Hello
I have a french (native) / english / german 5.2.5 joomla site with 5.0.2 phoca maps.
I use OpenStreetMaps

In the Phoca Maps Configuration settings I can select :
OpenStreetMap
OpenStreetMap (French)
OpenStreetMap (German)

even if I select OpenStreetMap , the names on the map are displayed in their local languages, not in english

but if I select OpenStreetMap (french) or OpenStreetMap (German) , the names on the map are correctly displayed in french or german!

So why can't we just have map in full english please?

Hi, these are map types which in fact have nothing to do with language (primarily) - in OSM you can select the map data, so this only says you are loading map data from germany OSM project or from france OSM project.

To set the language of the map, see the options in Map settings:

in the Phoca Maps Configuration / openstreetmap options tab I set "OpenStreetMap (France)"
In the MAP general options tab "map language" field I tried fr or FR or FR-fr here
but the names of the countries / cities on https://www.aviatec.net/fr/international are still written in their native languages, not in french
what did I forget please?

Hi, sorry for misunderstanding, the language options for OSM is applied only for routing not for the map content, this is displayed automatically by OSM.

Why isn't there the OpenStreetMap (english) option ? It's weird their counterparts in german and french exist but not english

Hi, we're talking about map data here. So that's a question for the creators of those map data. You can contact them and ask why their maps work the way they do. Phoca Maps just displays these maps and in the settings gives the option to select map data types. Phoca Maps has no influence on what they display as content. Phoca Maps does not run this service, it only displays the map of the different map types.
