Joomla 6.0alpha2 : 0 Call to a member function getGroup() on null

Context: Joomla V6.0 Alpha2 / Phoca Gallery 5.1.1 / PHP 8.3.20

Installation went OK - Phoca Gallery Control Panel displays OK
Click on any item in the sidepanel menu causes a stackdump
The call stack is always 0 Call to a member function getGroup() on null
It makes no difference switching on/off the Joomla compatibility plugin

Hi, when I looking at the screenshot, the error comes from layouts/joomla/searchtools/default/bar.php. Hard to say what can be wrong there, I will try to install the Alpha2 for more tests.

By the way, the same stackdumps happen in Phoca Download 5.1.0
Shall I post an entry there too ?

Hi, no, you don't need to post it for Phoca Download, the same happened for Phoca Cart.

There were changes between Joomla 6 Alpha 1 and Joomla 6 Alpha 2 where some methods were removed. I have rewritten Phoca Gallery and will do the same for download and cart extensions.

Please test 5.1.2 version and let me know:

Hello Jan,

Installed (update not found) Phoca Gallery 5.1.2 from downloaded file, added a new category and an image in that category.
Worked like a charm !

However the 2nd link in your post does not point to Phoca Download 5.1.1
and the regular Phoca Download page does not mention 5.1.1

The first link is a news link, the second link is download link - both for Phoca Gallery.

Phoca Download version 5.1.2 (ready for Joomla 6 Alpha 2) will be released tommorow officialy (it is now in download section, so you can test even the Phoca Download: https://www.phoca.cz/download/68-phoca- ... -component )
