Welcome cherries to the second day of Hanukkah.
We celebrate the second day of Hanukkah by lighting our second candle. This menorah actually belongs to my DD's mother-in-law. She has quite the collection and posts them each night.
In challenge one discussed the meaning of the word Hanukkah and why we celebrate the "Feast of Dedication". If you missed part one of the Hanukkah story, I'd suggest that you read day one first.
So let's pick up where we left off - the heroes of the story, the Maccabees, had just reclaimed the synagogue in Jerusalem and were re-dedicating it to God. One important part of this process was relighting the eternal light which, according to tradition, is to burn continuously in the sanctuary. Most Jewish congregations today continue to follow this tradition with a small eternal light that remains lit at all times. In ancient times, purified olive oil was used for the light and when searching the ruins of the synagogue they were only able to find one small flask of oil. The flask contained only enough oil to keep the flame lit for one day and it would take eight days to obtain more. The "miracle of the oil" is that the eternal flame remained burning for the entire eight days. The following year a great celebration was held to commemorate the rededication and the miracle of the oil - "The Festival of Dedication" (aka Hanukkah!) which lasted for eight days. This is why we celebrate Hanukkah for eight days! I thought I'd share this cute comic of the "updated miracle of Hanukkah" that always makes me laugh.
So, your second challenge is to create a layout with EXACTLY eight of one thing.
Here is mine. On a cruise of Canada and the Eastern US coast, we stopped at the port of Boston. This layout has eight photos documenting our visit.
Now the boring stuff for Hanukkah Day 2.
1) You must create your entry using EXACTLY EIGHT of some item.
2) You may combine with one other monthly challenge that permits it, but you may NOT submit the same layout for 2 different Hanukkah challenges.
3) Only one submission, per person, per challenge.
4) Entries must be new single or double page layouts and may be digital or paper. Cards are permitted for this challenge.
5) Entries for HANUKKAH DAY TWO - EIGHT ITEM CHALLENGE must be posted to this thread by 1/31/25 at midnight.
6) MOST IMPORTANT: I hope that you learn something and that you HAVE FUN!

Another bit of info that I remembered from last year. I need to absorb more of it since you're doing it again. Love the LO and that you were able to use 8 photos.
Thanks - I find double layouts necessary for most of my travel layouts since I always want to include as many photo memories as I can!!!
