WINNER!!
Using the random.org generator - the $5 gift card winner is entry #9 - lilkoala3 - Leslie!
Growing up in the 80's and 90's - this was definitely one of my favorite shows and board games. I wanted to appear on the tv game show so much! I can say that I probably learned more about geography and world facts from this show than most of my time in school. This show made me want to learn! And I'm hoping this challenge will make you want to create!!
This is Carmen Sandiego - there's many concepts of her but the one we are going to focus on is Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? She's a fictional villian that is the ringleader of the criminal organization V.I.L.E., crooks who go around stealing world treasures and artifacts like the Great Pyramid in Egypt or the Great Wall in China, the Washington Monument in D.C. or the Hanging Gardens of Babylon.
Each month, I will pick a specific location that Carmen has been seen and you are to take inspiration from that location and make a project. You could be inspired by maybe the colors that are reminiscent of that location or the flag of the country, something about the geography of the location - for example if she was seen in Paris - you could take inspiration from the long Seine River and have a long title for your page or maybe you're inspired by the Eiffel Tower and you have tall design elements for your project. Maybe she was seen in Dallas and you could be inspired by the Dallas Cowboys star emblem or rodeos? There is bound to be a ton of things you could be inspired by for the locations.
The Rules:
For each new project, you will be entered to randomly win a $5 ACOT gift card. In addition, some months there will be a bonus element or idea for an entry for a stash goodie bag. (No bonus for August....)
You may enter this challenge a maximum of 3 times. Each entry must use a different source of inspiration.
Challenge is open to layouts, cards, decor projects, etc. - if you aren't sure, just ask!
You may combine with any monthly challenge that allows and also the bi-monthly challenge.
Please post your entries here in this post.
All submissions are due by August 31, 2024 @ 11:59pm EST
Any questions, feel free to ask!
Carmen has been spotted in Los Angeles, California! Detectives do your best work and keep watch - she could be out to steal the Hollywood Sign, Dodger Stadium, anything from Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills - maybe even the Grauman's Chinese Theatre and the Hollywood Walk of Fame! She may even have her henchman stalking movie stars!
Adding - you don't just have to scrap about the place - use anything from it as inspiration! Handprints from the Hollywood Walk of Fame, stars for movie stars, space themed inspired by the Griffith Observatory, baseball pictures inspired by THE best team - the Dodgers! A Chinese meal - the fortune cookie was said to be invented in Los Angeles back in 1918 by David Jung of the Hong Kong Noodle Company! Maybe your favorite show is NCIS: LA? There's so much inspiration from the cities that can somehow be tied back to your creativity!

I definitely have some LA layouts to catch up on!! Go Dodgers!
This is such a fun challenge!! I think I have some LA pics to use!
Well drat. I've never been to California.

So when I think about Los Angeles, I think beaches and palm trees. We visited Huntington Beach while we were in California years ago.
I had these pics from a bus tour in New Orleans with the trees lined with palm trees.

Just use the city as inspiration - anything that you can find there... The layout itself DOES NOT have to be about the location!
There's tons of things -
movie stars - so maybe use star paper or embellishments on your layout
Grauman's Chinese Theatre - a layout about a movie?
beaches - beach layouts?
Rodeo Drive - a shopping trip? Maybe back to school shopping? Scrapbook shopping here at ACOT?
The Los Angeles Dodgers - a baseball layout? Baseball embellishments!

For this one I went with the Art District…. All these triangles remind me of art deco!

When I think of LA, I think of fandom!

I wish I was as creative as you! It's so hard for me to think of these types of inspirations! And when I do, I feel like I'm "stretching" too much. Case in point: my number 1 fan layout!

Oooh! I just had a great idea! a curvy title like the hollywood sign!

My inspiration is Chinese food
combined with Double Page

Ok, so I totally copied your baseball idea and scrapbooked these photos from a Phillies game! This picture has been sitting around for awhile, so I was happy for the push to get this page done!

I went with the hippie bohemian movement that brought some of the rock and roll music in LA from the 60s and 70s such as The Doors.

We drove through Chinatown on our way from the airport to our hotel in London, which was inspired by Chinatown in Los Angeles.
