Since June is Pride Month, we're going to focus on a book by an icon in the LGBTQ+ community: RuPaul!
RuPaul Andre Charles was born to a poor family in San Diego towards the end of 1960. His father left soon after, and his mother’s mood was unpredictable, so RuPaul forged close relationships with his siblings and even began to explore the world on his own at a young age. After many years of cutting class and failing the ones he did attend, he decided school was not for him, and he moved across the country with his sister and her husband to Atlanta – a move that would forever change his life.
In the mid-to-late 70s, Atlanta was a diverse city, becoming a hot spot for black culture, and RuPaul found himself enthralled with it all. He was able to pursue both his love of cars and his love of performing, making friendships and seizing opportunities that would shape the type of performer he would become. Eventually, he made his way up to New York, and then ended up down South again, always following the opportunities that would best allow him to fulfill what he always believed was his destiny: to become a star.
OPTION 1: “THE REST IS DRAG”
One memorable quote from the book is RuPaul’s belief that “we’re all born naked and the rest is drag”. Using that quote as inspiration, make a page featuring someone who is dressed in a “costume”. This can be a wide interpretation: maybe someone got married and is dressed up as a bride, or wearing a Halloween costume, or dressed as a cheerleader or a football player or a cowboy/girl. Whatever it is, the person featured should be wearing an identifiable “costume” of some sort. (If you have photos of a pet wearing a costume, that’s ok, too. )
OPTION 2: A GLIMPSE INTO NOW
RuPaul is probably best known for his hit reality competition show “RuPaul’s Drag Race”, but he is also an author, singer, actor, and producer and has even appeared in music videos like Taylor Swift’s “You Need to Calm Down”. To celebrate all his various talents, make a page about what you’re watching/listening to/reading now.

Terrific options for us this month! I have ideas for both.

Love the challenge this month! I definitely think I have ideas for both!

Wonderful choices for this month! (AND another book to add to my list!)
Question about Option 2: Does this have to be NOW, now, or can it be about a show that was popular when the photo was taken (ummm maybe 10 years ago)
Here's my first entry for this one - using option 1.

The challenges are always very unique and makes me think out of "my box"!! thanks for hosting! I combined with Deanna's sketch with a twist challenge.

Not sure if a uniform counts as a costume, but here is my DGS in his scout uniform for the cub scout popcorn sale.

Option 1 in cropping costumes. Used old kit I found in a bin and modified it to be a single page.
