Teachers or Admin people-Help!

What do I put down as a contact for emergency, when I don't really know anyone here. At least not well enough to leave my child with. Who do I put down?

Clarification: It can not be either parent.

I usually put myself down. or my husband.

Is there one of the teachers you really know/trust? Or a church person? Pastor? That's a toughie!

How about someone from work since the school will most likely be trying to reach you or your DH in case of emergency.

I had the same problem last year when we moved only a couple weeks before school started. I put down co-workers of my dh and grandparents, even though they were far away. I figured they would at least know how to find us if there was an emergency at school. You can always update it later in the year when you've met some local people.

I put my sisters' name even though she lives out of state. Sometimes they may just need the phone no. to contact someone who can make a decision based on the absence of a parent.

I'd go with a relative regardless of location and a work contact number

My closest relative is an hour and a half away, so I just put them down, too. But I pretty much know that they'll be able to get ahold of dh or I if something were to happen. With cell phones, we're all pretty connected all of the time!

I would put a teacher or a neighbor with kids your age (ask the neighbor, first!).

I put grandparents down they would now how to reach us and would have all acess to family members even though they live out of state

I would put grandparents or close relatives, too. They can at least fill in for you over the phone until you can be contacted.
