Anybody ever bought a used car from a rental co?
Enterprise Rent A Car is having a used car sale and the deals look pretty good. I wondered if anyone had any experience with this?

No I haven't. I do know that they generally get rid of their cars before they get too old or too many miles on them.

If you do, be sure to run it through the service that is connected with Car Maxx - it will check the vin id to make sure there have been no accidents, or if the car was part of an insurance buyout. You would especially want to check that if the car is in an area that might have had recent flooding.

My Chevy Blazer was a lease vehicle. I've had it several years now and it's never given me one minute of trouble. It's been the best vehicle I've ever had. They have to keep those cars in tip top running shape because that is the heart beat of their business. No regrets here~~ :-D Good luck on whatever you decide.

It is my understanding that the cars are well taken care of in between being rented and sold. We have brought program cars before and they were good deals with low miles. We were not sorry be bought them, I would think those rental cars would be about the same.

My brother just bought one. He told me that the dealerships don't give them 100,000 mile warranties, only 36000 mile warranties. So they try to get rid of them before their warranty is up. So if you buy one, get the extended warranty and you should be golden!

Re: Anybody ever bought a used car from a rental co?
Yes, I have. I actually bought it from a dealership who told me some old lady turned it in. Months later, I found some paperwork in the visor that said it was a car from National Car Rental. It wasn't a bad car, but it did have a lot of little things that went wrong with it within the first year of having it. The rental places do regular maintenance on them and keep them clean. The bad part is that people don't always drive a rental as nicely or gently as their own, so they are usually kind of abused by the renters.

Jeff Foxworthy says that buying a used car from a rental agency is like going to a whore house to look for a wife.

Just saying.

My last vehicle was, and I got a steal on it. It was a 2008 jeep Patriot. I purchased it with a little over 20k miles on it. Like said above, it was only eligible for the 3 yr 36k mile warranty. I bought an aftermarket warranty for around 1k so for 11k total I had a 1 year old car with a long warranty, hard to beat that deal.

Re: Anybody ever bought a used car from a rental co?
Oh no!!! I boought my car last december from a used car lot. well the owner before me only had it for about 3 months and previously before that it was owned by a rental company. Let me just tell you that I have spent more money on an 2007 vehicle than I have on our 1993 camry we had before..The carfax report only reported the last owner drove only 600 miles on the car...not a good idea in my book
