It looked ok with this LO cause it's kinda "grungy" but...it's definitely not a look I want all the time, KWIM?
Thanks Beth!!! This was fun. And I really like that pleated ribbon idea.
FYI - For those who don't have a sewing machine and want one, there is a little Purple one by, I think Singer, that is pretty cheap. I've seen it at WM. I know Diana (dianagirly) has one and likes it.

WOW - awesome class!!! I'm going to go make a ribbon flower now & might try some machine stitching tomorrow (depends on how ambitious I am...)

Jenny - the same thing happens to my layouts when I try to stitch!
I'm not sure what to do with the tension.

Whew! Glad someone else has the same problem! it works great for a straight stitch, but I can't figure out the zig zag
Nope, no broken thread. it just kept "skipping" and then it would eventually catch back up.

It does match the page. Kinda looks like it is suppose to be that way.
Hmm, I don't think I have ever had that happen before. My first thought is to check your manual and make sure your thread is wound the right way through your machine. For example, my spool of thread has to point a certain way or it sticks. That is what I am initially thinking. It looks like the top stitch is some how sticking on something. Also, make sure it is wound exactly like your manual tells you. The smallest variance can really mess up your stitching.
Let me know if this helps. If not, I will think some more and try to come up with something. Troubleshooting is hard when I am not there.

thanks for the great class.. I cant wait to try all of this!
I also had a lot of trouble when I didn't buy the correct bobbins for my machine. They looked like they were the right ones but they weren't my manufacturer's product. That caused my machine to not work correctly.

I'll make sure to double check the threading next time I pull out the machine! Needless to say, I don't sew much!

The more you do it, the easier it will get. Practice on some scrap paper.

Beth is right...without being there and knowing your machine, it's hard to say. But to me it looks like something is amiss with the bobbin tension. I know with one of my machines it's really easy to get the thread wrapped around the little "arm" of the bobbin case and if you do, it catches and messes up the stitch. It gets too tight.
Double check your bobbin and try on a scratch piece to see if that helps. ??

Thanks for sharing Beth...can't wait to try some stitching!!
Thanks for the advice...I need to pull out my machine again. The last time I tried to zig zag stitch, I busted the needle.....
