I actually don't care if they die, I just don't want to get too close. As well, I don't like the squishy/crunchy sounds some of them make upon death.

That's a cool gadget...a cup and a piece of paper work just as well in case you don't get it.  Or you could just nudge them on to your hand, and let them crawl around on you until you get outside!
