So you're home alone...
and someone you don't recognize knocks on door. Do you answer it?

No, I try not to let them see me check them out. Sometimes they see me and I answer it if it's a woman and I feel safe.

Re: So you're home alone...
I never answer my door if I am not expecting someone. Plus my house sits sideways so my front door is not off my driveway so nobody I know uses it so if someone knocks on that door, I know I don't know them.

Nope. I made the mistake and ended up with my own personal Latter Day Saint person who made it their mission to get me to join their church...she came by at least every 2-3 days dropping off literature.

fortunately on base I don't have to worry about wierdies. The only people that come to my door are the bottled water guy and the housing office reps.

Nope...I don't even answer it if someone is here with me. I look out the window to see if I know the person first. I'm a big wimp... :?

How do I keep the creepy people away from my yard when I am outside though? That's what happened to me today (the Jehovah's Witness lady) This is the first time it's happened but I don't want it happening again. LOL

Almost never. The exception is if it's UPS, but I can usually tell b/c I hear his truck pull up first  ;)

Re: So you're home alone...
Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't.

But lemme tell you a little story about last week.  I am about to get into the shower, thus I am nekkid and in a towel.  It is mid afternoon and I am upstairs where I can see down over the 2nd floor balcony through a large half moon window to the front steps below and they cannot see me.  A "kid" (maybe 17-21?) rings the doorbell.  He is wearing nice-ish, though very misguided, clothes and carries only an umbrella.  Can't be selling anything (no goods) and no pamphlets (religious) or polling (no papers or clipboard). Since I am not properly clothed I don't answer but I do watch him leave our house and walk across the driveway to our neighbor's house.  He drops his umbrella, looks around a bit, and then goes to the side of their house where it is slightly wooded but still very much exposed.  He then *unzips his pants and PEES* into the line of trees between their house and the next.  WTF??  During this time he makes some weird head jerks that could be interpreted as either a bug on his face or beckoning to the other hooligans who might be hiding out while he cases the joint.  Then he zipped up, grabbed his umbrella, and ran across the street and through that neighbor's yard, never using the actual street.  Yeah... I was pretty nervous about being alone and taking a shower at that point.  :?

 that is really creepy Jess.

I not only do not answer my door, but I keep my door dead bolted while I am home.  I know how crazy people can be.  I have become so cautious since having elijanna.

Re: So you're home alone...
Generally, people don't just drop by here--so if someone knocks and I am not expecting someone I will look out the side window 1st. If I don't know them, I will open that window and ask if I may help them with something.

Re: So you're home alone...
When someone knocks at the door and I'm not expecting someone, I tend to freeze, especially the later in the evening it becomes. I hate that my front doors (double doors) have stained glass inserts. People can see that someone is approaching, so it is hard for me to go up to the door and look through the peep hole.

If I'm in my nightshirt, I won't answer, but will sometimes yell out asking who it is. This is especially true on early mornings of the weekends--it is normally a religious group/individual and I just yell for them to go away!

What I especially dislike is people who approach my door late at night, when it is dark, and no porch lights are on. This should be a signal that I don't want you coming to the front door.

hell no!!!  I let Mak have em for breakfast!  I live on a highway and anyone who knows us uses the back door, whick leads right from the driveway, so anytime I hear a knock at the front, its nobody that I am expecting
