St. Nicholas Day is Dec. 6th. The kid leaves his shoe out and they get a little gift in there. We don't do it because I'm a slacker mom.
lol, Moody....I never did it until Evan started school. Milwaukee has a HUGE German population, and all the families around here do it. Evan thought St. Nick hated him. They leave out either a stocking or a shoe. Usually the toe is filled with an orange, and there is a small toy and nuts. (Well, candy nowadays). I always include a book and an ornament (which I still have to get). Then, that night, we decorate our "kids" tree with all the ornaments that they have gotten. I put the tree up today, will do the lights tomorrow, and the ornaments on St. Nick's Day.If Delaney has another day like today....coal.
And you all waited until tonight to tell me about this!?!?! And here I thought I was on top of everything this year! LOL I'll just have to add it to next years list....

I'm a slacker mom too Moods! I didn't know about St. Nick until I started teaching Religious Ed classes when Jess was six...I figured it was too late to start a new tradition by then, LOL
In the morning, there will be a bags of coins in their shoes in keeping with St. Nicholas's habit of giving bags of coins. No candy since we still have an abundance of Halloween candy. We also put up the tree on that day.
