How to use scrap overlays?

Post by Cacoon6 »

 http://www.acherryontop.com/digital/sea ... rs/9004174

I am pretty new to digital scrapping, but have used Picture It program for many years. Could I use the above product in Picture It? How does it work? Any suggestions for me?

Thanks so much!

 Hi Erin,

Overlays are pretty much like elements or papers. depending upon whether they are jpg or png files. you would use these by dragging them on top of a solid TEXTURED paper and then playing with blend modes (do you have that option in your program?)? You can also color each star a different color, or stripe -- whatever the overlays are. Though I don't know how Picture It works.

hope that helped, a bit?

OK, hum maybe not...

When I place the overlay over the textured paper you can see the black stars. I was hoping it would blend with the paper.

You have to set the blending mode.  It does not do that automatically.  I'm not familar with Picture It, so I can only tell you for PSE and hope you can find something similar.  In PSE (and PS) over on the right side of the screen there is the layers pallate.  Just above where all of the layers are shown there is a drop down box (and some other stuff, too, like opacity, etc).  That drop down box has the blending options.  It defaults to "normal".  Click on it and start trying all the options.  Oh yea, first be sure you have the layer with the overlay selected.

Now that I am thinking about it...maybe you could just change the opacity? It would make them more see-through.
