And if so, how did you do it?   My brother and SIL got married in Prince Edward Island, and it's known for it's red sand, so I brought a baggie home with me.  I stumbled across this bag last night and thought that would be such a cool layout.  Has it been done?  Do you think spray adhesive would hold it?

Hmmm.. I haven't done it but I bet you could do it like glitter.  Spray adhesive is worth a shot or maybe one of the glue sheets that transfers tiny adhesive dots wherever you lay the sheet?  Maybe a thin layer of Mod Podge and then quickly sprinkle the sand on?

I was also thinking Modge Podge, but do you think I should seal it?  I haven't worked with glitter, so not sure if you seal it once it's set?

Good question... I don't seal glitter but I am usually just doing small bits like letters and I figure the page protectors will hold most of it.  But sand is heavier.  Do you have enough to do a couple of tests?  You could try Mod Podge just as glue and then try a bit with some on top too.  If you do try to seal it make sure you wait plenty of time and let the first layer dry totally, otherwise I bet the sand will just come off as you brush on the top layer. 

Admittedly it's been a while since I paper scrapped, but I would do this. I put glitter in these little watch-crystal type embellies and made them the center of a flower. They were from scrapworks (are they even around anymore?)  I think that might be a neat idea for your layout without worrying about gluing down the sand and having it all inside the sleeve. You know that's just gonna keep flaking off as the book is used and looked at and it'll be a real mess.

Why not just attach a baggie of it to the layout?

I would use double stick adhesive sheets....the stick is super strong...I think the ones I use are by provo craft.

I'd go with a shaker box or one of those clear C-Thru' envelopes.

Me, I have.  I used double-sided SUPER TAPE by Therm O Web.  All you do is cut the shape you want (I bought it in sheet form, it's also available in tape and sticks like nothing else!!) and pour the sand on it.  Shake off the excess and it's all done.  I did mine ages ago and no sand has come off.  Check out my layout called Beach Blues. 

I have glued sand to a layout.  l'm trying to remember how I did it.  I'll go take a look!

I used a special scrapbooking sand and then just used a clear tape runner like tombo.  That was several years ago and it has stood the test!

I have used sand on a layout and it's still sticking after a year or so. It's killing me that I can't find images of it though, it's a mini album that I made for mom. I created a sandy accent to use on the page by covering a piece of chipboard with double-stick red line tape. (you can find this in craft stores, it has a red lining or backing thus the name) You could also use any other extremely tacky adhesive.  Then I covered the tape in sand, pressed it in real good, and coated it with a glaze.  I had bought a 3D crystal glaze from the craft store but you could also use mod podge or a spray sealant, I believe those would work just as well.  I even decorated the sandy chipboard accent with a shell shaped charm, and like I said above, it's still holding strong.

Wow!  These are all great ideas!  I am going to give them a try!  I like the shaker idea, but I wanted to do a layout as an extension of the pic...Their wedding pics are beautiful in the sand, so I wante to do something that used the sand around the pic...

i would use the scotch brand quick dry adhesive..i use that stuff for everything...it seems to stay in place and has an ultra good bond

Went to a weekend crop in Biloxi, MS a few years ago and we did a make and take with sand.  They cut a strip of that red double sided adhesive sheets and it worked fine.  We did't seal it either.  I never had sand fall off of it.

I have used the Tacky tape for sand layouts but it drive me nuts that it always has to be in a straight line.The best thing I have ever found is either diamond glaze or Ranger matte or glossy finishes. That way you can make the shape that you want, sprinkle the sand on there and let it dry. There's no need for a sealer because they are the searler. The diamond glaze takes a lot longer to dry than the Ranger products.I just did a page about my son at the ocean using the Ranger matte accents and it worked beautifully. 

leslie, try getting some regular sand and experimenting with it first before you work with the real stuff.  I would hate to see you lose the sand.  I found this glue at Hobby Lobby that is acid free and is very sticky.  I think it would hold, but I would just experiment with it first.

I have done this with good success using the liquid glass that CTMH sells. I would imagine any of the clear drying adhesives (like diamond glaze) would work as well

I used paper perfect by deco art and while it was wet I applied sand and it worked perfectly.  I was making a sandy beach layout.
