I saw this earlier.  I have 2 stores close to me.  One in MD that is my favorite because it's a Super Joanns and one in Lancaster that is a much smaller store.  The store in Maryland is closing and I'm so sad.  I have frames, fabric and so many other items that I buy there.  The one in Lancaster is not very organized or clean so I won't be shopping there.  I've only been in it twice in 10 years when looking for Easter decor and artificial flowers.  It's a sad time for retail stores everywhere.

oh noooos!

The store that is literally 1 mile from my home is closing! I'm not surprised as I have watched the stock dwindle on the shelves lately, but it is still disappointing.

A lot of stores are closing and it's very sad.  I hate to see any business go under.  But I guess with the cost of renting/leasing properties and having stock and paying all the employees it's tough to compete with the online stores.  If companies don't move with the times this is what happens.  I never really shopped JoAnns because they were over half an hour away when we lived in Florida and the traffic was horrible.  It was hard to get in and out of the parking lot too and they never really had things I wanted.  I mostly shopped at AC Moore, Hobby Lobby and Michael's which were all within 15 minutes and very easy to get in and out of...

I am really bummed too.  It had to be mismanagement as there have been problems ordering online for a long time.  I actually had a choice of about 6 within an hour of me that I could have gone to and they are all closing.  A friend of mine works at the Viking Sewing Gallery inside the store and they may be in trouble now too since most of the Joanne's are closing that is where their main stores are is inside of Joannes.  I doubt the remaining Joannes will be around much longer.  Times sure are changing I've gone to Joannes for as long as I can remember.  I am not a fan of Hobby Lobby.  Online shopping it is then, I have a lot of options for fabrics online.....

AC Moore was my go-to until they closed! Now with Joanns closing I have to go a lot further to the closest Micheals. And, I'm not a Hobby Lobby fan so I'm REALLY gonna keep my fingers crossed that Micheals isn't next in line!!!

I'd love to know where you shop for fabrics online. I've ordered from the Fat Quarter Shop and Missouri Quilts but would like other options.

Just saw this on the news this morning. All three near me are closing. The next one is about 35 minutes away. Such a shame but they have gone so downhill in the last few years with their customer service and cleanliness I am not at all surprised.

I'm surprised that Maine isn't on the list for stores closing.  I stopped in a couple of weeks ago and the shelves were fully stocked so they must be doing well here.  It is sad to see all the brick and mortar stores closing.  I confess that I do my shopping for craft supplies all online.  It's just so much easier for me.

The one closest to me (about 15 minutes) is staying open.  I go to JoAnn's for mostly floral arranging items and fabric, sometimes party supplies.  I hate to see so many stores closing.  Maybe they will use this opportunity to FINALLY turn things around.

And most sadly, amid it all, there will be a lot of people out of work.

well poo, the one my hubby and i always go to is on the list.  there's another in Tucson not on the list, much farther away, of course, but i guess we've got another option.

so odd; whenever we would go,  the store was clean, busy, lots of people working if you needed help.  i've seen nightmare pictures of some stores and this store is nothing at all like that.

Hancock's of Paducah and Marshall Dry Goods are the 2 big ones that come to mind quick.  I usually always buy cotton or flannel and these companies have very reasonable prices and even cheaper if you buy by the bolt.  There are other smaller shops I have ordered from if I was looking for something in particular.  The 2 you mentioned is on my list to check out, very popular!   I will definitely miss Joannes to see the fabric in person.

It looks like the one closest to me is staying open. I’m surprised because it’s small and very messy.

They are. 3/5  - leaving Bangor and Portland.
NH - 7/8, MA - 19/20, VT - 2/3, RI - the only store they have is closing, and CT all 10. That will leave a total of 5 in all of New England out of 47 stores.

All of the ones within a 3-5 hour drive of me are closing from what I can tell.  While I didn't go often, I would go when they would have Bazzill cardstock on sale.  My Mom like to go there often for their fabric selection.
