Just curious

Post by Art_Teacher »

I will be posting my first MMC (Monday Mini Crop) this coming Monday. So, I have a few questions for you.  :)

What types of challenges do you like best?
Which ones push you outside of your box to try and be more creative?
Are you a chronological or random scrapper?
Do you need to get rid of some stash?
Are you a scrappy hoarder?
How long does it typically take you to do a layout?
Do sketches help or hinder you in scrapping?
Where/what are your favorite sketch websites?
How often do you scraplift?

Just a few things I am thinking about today.

I'm a slow scrapper, so I like challenges that are not too intense.  Challenges with absolute specifics really push me to complete.
I scrap photos in random order.  If I have papers that I think will go with a photo, it doesn't matter when it was taken.
I always have stash to get rid of because I replenish too often!  LOL!
I do hoard a few of my favorite papers and I'm not sure why because I bought them to use.
One layout can take me anywhere from an hour to a day or more.  Depends on my mood and how everything is coming together.
Page Maps, Laura Whitaker and Page Drafts are a few of my favorite sketches.

I will be posting my first MMC (Monday Mini Crop) this coming Monday. So, I have a few questions for you.  :)

What types of challenges do you like best?
Ones that tell me exactly what to do LOL -- use these supplies, use this theme, use these colors etc.  (you know, your recipes LOL!)

Which ones push you outside of your box to try and be more creative?
Anything with mixed media

Are you a chronological or random scrapper?
I scrap randomly but put in albums by theme or year

Do you need to get rid of some stash?
Oh yes! Paper, stickers, older stuff like brads or rubons

Are you a scrappy hoarder?
I would say no but my craft room and DH beg to differ. And I did just use stuff on a layout from the year 2000.

How long does it typically take you to do a layout?
I scrap in small spurts (5-10 minutes here and there) so it could take me a week to finish a layout but "as the crow flies" it was really only an hour LOL! I have time management issues...

Do sketches help or hinder you in scrapping?
I love sketches!

Where/what are your favorite sketch websites?
Pagemaps, Pinterest

How often do you scraplift?
I try to do it at least once a month

Just a few things I am thinking about today.
These are some good thoughts! :)

All of yours push me, lol

Are you a chronological or random scrapper?
I try to be chronological mostly for the boys but random for everything else

Do you need to get rid of some stash?
Always

Are you a scrappy hoarder?
Not really

How long does it typically take you to do a layout?
I don't really have the attention span for anything longer than an hour

Do sketches help or hinder you in scrapping?
Both but mostly help

Where/what are your favorite sketch websites?
Pinterest

How often do you scraplift?
Not as often as I should. In always forget to.

What types of challenges do you like best?   I LOVE sketches

Which ones push you outside of your box to try and be more creative?  Mood board style challenges and recipe challenges

Are you a chronological or random scrapper?  I'm more random. You should see my basket of photos I have sitting on my desk. 😂

Do you need to get rid of some stash? OMG, YES!

Are you a scrappy hoarder? If by hoarder you mean I buy, buy, buy and use a little bit before buying more...than yes..I'm a scrappy hoarder.

How long does it typically take you to do a layout? On average, 2 hours. But that's if I'm not interrupted by life. Or a doggie.

Do sketches help or hinder you in scrapping? They totally help! Sometimes I just need a little push.

Where/what are your favorite sketch websites? I LOVE Sketch N Scrap and Sketches in Thyme. Granted, I used to be on their DTs. But I also have a board on Pinterest full of sketches!

How often do you scraplift? Not often enough.

I love sketches, am a random scrapper for the most part.
I have tons of stash to get rid of, in fact I loved the NSD
challenge where we clustered embellishments!
I generally get 2 LO's done - on a weekday!
Only scraplift when its a challenge but love doing them!

What types of challenges do you like best?
Oh, gosh all your challenges from MMC are the best.  I love a recipe challenge.  Sketch challenges.

Which ones push you outside of your box to try and be more creative?
I am not really a fan of mixed media, so they push me over the edge, so to speak!!!'  But usually love the end results.

Are you a chronological or random scrapper?
Kind of random, but try to keep up on the grandkids most recent photos.

Do you need to get rid of some stash?
Always, as I have been a scrapper for over 20 years now.

Are you a scrappy hoarder?
Not particularly.  I don't have a lot of space in my room to be a hoarder.

How long does it typically take you to do a layout?
Most oftne an hour or two.

Do sketches help or hinder you in scrapping?  Yes!  Love me a good sketch!

Where/what are your favorite sketch websites?
I love pagemaps, Pintrest.  Instagram.  There are some good utubers out there too.  Janet @ RTS is on Patreon.  I like Christy's Beautiful Life and She's Scrappy, too.

How often do you scraplift? Sometimes, but not that often.

What types of challenges do you like best?
I can usually get inspiration from just about any challenge,
but I most like color and title challenges.

Which ones push you outside of your box to try and be more creative?
Definitely recipe challenges.

Are you a chronological or random scrapper?
Random!

Do you need to get rid of some stash?
Nope.

Are you a scrappy hoarder?
Not really.  I was on my way to being a hoarder when I had my own
little space, but now I have no where to hoard.  Although, I do
have more than 100 Doodlepops!

How long does it typically take you to do a layout?
Usually several hours -- I'd say 3-4.

Do sketches help or hinder you in scrapping?
Absolutely help!

Where/what are your favorite sketch websites?
I just use whatever shows up here at ACOT!

How often do you scraplift?
Not very often at all.

OCD is not an adjective.  It is not a personality quirk. It is not synonymous with being organized.  It is a complex and debilitating mental health illness that affects people of all ages and walks of life, and is defined by the presence of unwanted, intrusive thoughts and repetitive actions. 💙 I am an OCD warrior and I fight for my son. 💙

Great questions, Laura!

What types of challenges do you like best?
Challenges that have me create apage kit "recipes" like use 2 of this type of embellishments, specif colors, spefic pattern paper (ie, stripes, dots)... I ALSO love a challenge that makes me think and journal… and everything in between! I can't say I have a favorite - specifics like themes, etc– helps to get me out of a creative block
Which ones push you outside of your box to try and be more creative?

Are you a chronological or random scrapper?
Random. Plus, I had HUGE gap where I didn't scrap for a few years.

Do you need to get rid of some stash?
Yes lol I HAVE Soo much older stash left, and plenty of new things, too. Plus the things that I create myself - I'm good to go in quite a few supplies! ;)
Are you a scrappy hoarder?
Not any more lol when I knew I was going to start scrapbooking again, I took a little bit of inventory and decided that it was time to bring out everything and that I could only buy new stuff if I used some older stuff, too. I started creating kits to help and sometimes it does.
How long does it typically take you to do a layout?
This is a hard question. I'll say a day because some LO I spent days on and others came to me pretty quickly.
Do sketches help or hinder you in scrapping?
Sketches are just beginning to REALLY inspire me this past year or so. I get REALLY inspired when I see the same sketch but so MANY different ways others have used it and made it thier own.
Where/what are your favorite sketch websites?
Either here or whatever I find on Pinterest. I ALSO look through my back issues of scrapbook magazines.

How often do you scraplift?
Sometimes. I'm ALWAYS getting inspired but I don't often lift an entire design.

What types of challenges do you like best?  - Sketches or Simple Open Ended Prompts (use a specific color scheme or shape etc.)
Which ones push you outside of your box to try and be more creative? - Anything involving mixed media!

Are you a chronological or random scrapper? Random! But my layouts are stored in chronological albums.

Do you need to get rid of some stash? Definitely haha

Are you a scrappy hoarder? I used to be, but I’m getting better

How long does it typically take you to do a layout? I average around an hour.

Do sketches help or hinder you in scrapping? Help!! I love them!!!

Where/what are your favorite sketch websites? Scrapbook Generation/Allison Davis

How often do you scraplift? Not very, usually only just for challenges.

What types of challenges do you like best?   Pretty much any can inspire me! I may have trouble with specifics, whereas choices usually allow me to fit in.
Which ones push you outside of your box to try and be more creative?  I think techniques. Sometimes they may be a good reminder to try that again, or encourage me to learn something new.
Are you a chronological or random scrapper?   Random
Do you need to get rid of some stash?  If you mean, do I have way too much, then yes!
Are you a scrappy hoarder?  Not really. Used to hoard certain favorites, but the last 2 or 3 years I've been crossing that barrier. Nothing will really last forever, so lets enjoy it!
How long does it typically take you to do a layout?  Half and day to a day and a half. I used to take the best part of 2 days, but have been training myself to stop over thinking everything.
Do sketches help or hinder you in scrapping?  I enjoy sketches, for the most part. Sometimes the sketch may be way off from my style. Like one tiny 2 inch photo on a whole page doesn't work for me, nor does 5 large photos on a page. I'm somewhere in between and appreciate the flexibility.
Where/what are your favorite sketch websites?   I'm always open, but I think the first site that comes to mind if I'm looking out of the blue is Pinterest.
How often do you scraplift?  I think scraplifting is super. I probably don't do it that much, but do once in a while.

What types of challenges do you like best?   I am loving all of them! I really enjoyed the one during Scrap weekend with Turquoise. I didn’t think I would…but its now one of my favorite layouts.

Which ones push you outside of your box to try and be more creative? Techniques. I get into a zone and don’t even think about doing something extra. I’ll finish and say oh I should have….

Are you a chronological or random scrapper?  Random!

Do you need to get rid of some stash? Yes! But I am working on that!

Are you a scrappy hoarder? I used to be. Now I’ve realized I can enjoy that pretty paper in my album even more.

How long does it typically take you to do a layout? I’m all over the board. Average, a couple hours?

Do sketches help or hinder you in scrapping? Help! I love sketches. Especially in the evening when I can’t even think anymore.

Where/what are your favorite sketch websites? Usually Pinterest but I’ve been searching the gallery here for them.

How often do you scraplift? Not often enough!

I will be posting my first MMC (Monday Mini Crop) this coming Monday. So, I have a few questions for you.  :)

What types of challenges do you like best?   I like a variety. I find I like the results best when the challenge allows me to incorporate my own style.
Which ones push you outside of your box to try and be more creative? Technique based challenges probably push me the most.
Are you a chronological or random scrapper?  I'm random,  although I put them in albums chronologically.
Do you need to get rid of some stash? I have a ton of stash to use up.
Are you a scrappy hoarder? I used to be.  Then I realized I enjoy seeing my hoarded items in my album too so I use it all.
How long does it typically take you to do a layout? Anywhere from 1-3 hrs.  I'm a quick scrapper since I tend toward simpler layouts. Sometimes I'll come back the next day and add something,  but I tend to work on a layout start to finish on one sitting.
Do sketches help or hinder you in scrapping? I don't ever use them on my own,  but I do t like them a part of a challenge.
Where/what are your favorite sketch websites? N/A
How often do you scraplift? Almost never unless it's for a challenge.  I should do it more though as I have pages of favorites and Pinterest pins!

Just a few things I am thinking about today.
