I used washi tape to cover the top of a can that I upcycled for a pencil holder. I saved a can from carrots, but scratched a finger when I was trying to dry it off. So I thought I'd cover it with duct tape, but then thought of all the colorful washi tape I have, and it worked great.
I love using washi tape for layering on pages or cards, because it sometimes adds a cute pop of color and pattern. I haven't tried punching any of it though, but if you have trouble with it sticking to your punch, you might try holding the paper with the tape on the bottom, thay way I think the paper would keep the tape from sticking to the punch part that "moves."
As for it tearing with scissors, it might be the brand of washi you have. I have noticed there are several thicknesses and "textures" to the different brands. Bella Blvd.'s is thicker and waxy and really not as transparent as some of the others.

This tape from Tape Works is thinner and tore really easily when I pulled it from the roll. Frustrating.

The only major problem I've had with my washi tapes is that it pulls up and doesn't stick well to some of my projects. I don't know if it has anything to do with the humidity, or the type of paper it's applied to?? But I usually add a staple or brad or something to help hold it down and add extra embellishment.
But I do love it have have quite a few rolls (I never admit a number, that would show that I have a scrapbooking supply addiction, lol)!!

This upcycled can is adorable! And I love the colors and all the colors of the washi. The washi tape I have sticks very well, and actually I tried to reposition some and it tore up some of the paper with it when I pulled it up. So it's definitely sticky. Also, I have put washi on my tape cutter and cut it in half, to make a thinner strip of washi for accents. I STILL have a few pieces of half-washi stuck on the paper cutter, for use later.average_kim wrote:I used washi tape to cover the top of a can that I upcycled for a pencil holder. NOTE*** Bibi, we must get this die! I want to use your cuttlebug, LOL! UNLESS Cricut has one!??
There is a bag similar to this on Cricut's Slumber Party Lite cartridge, but I think the biggest you can cut it on a 12x12 mat is 2 3/4 inches--it still makes a cute little bag. You might look on some of your other cartridges like Tags, Bags, Boxes and More 2, or Wrap it Up?

Thanks, Kim! I think I do have T,B,B and more, not sure, at Bibi's. I only have the baby bug and cut 6" but she has the bigger one. I had forgotten about that cart since it doesn't do me any good with my cricut. I looked at some sizzix dies and wow, not cheap!average_kim wrote:debamas wrote:I really do like this but am puzzled how you use the box from Sizzix and the handles from ....ah nevermind, LOL. I used Washi to decorate the flip-down part of my Ott light when I redid my Scrap Pit in blue. As that elderly lady said in the hot sauce
