ImageNext, I decided to work with photos of my LOUD niece! So of course, big patterns!!!

My niece Amber is loud, bold and pretty sweet, so I thought these
patterns would show that off. When using more than one big pattern on a
layout, you have to find a way to have separation, otherwise your
photos will get lost on the layout. Color blocking is a good way to do
that. I kept the background white, which I like to do when using bright
colors.

 ImageHere is the finished layout.
I sanded the embossed paper to bring out a bit of the pattern. These
Heidi Grace papers are so pretty and shimmery...sometimes shimmer
throws me off when scrapbooking because it's hard to put a flat paper
over the top of it. Colorblocking saved me on that account too! I think
the shimmer looks awesome as the top layer here!
For embellishments on this one, I cut out a strip of the house
patterned paper. If you weren't able to get some of that, you could use
a row of flowers, some fun lace and ribbon or any pattern out of a
paper that you do have. I've also used some of the Velvet borders
around and on top of the photos. A few of the diecut stickers  helped
pull it all together for the title and journaling. The little asterisks
from the American Craft glittery alphas remind me of flowers so I threw
them on too! I originally planned on using the scalloped paper as the
background, but the page felt unfinished. When I put the patterned
paper behind it (with the center cut out to save some of the paper,
again!) it completed it for me. What do you think?

Don't you ADORE that Love, Elsie embossed paper??? To be honest with you, those papers were the whole reason I created this class! I love her products for KI Memories, but sometimes I feel like they're a bit much, even for me...and I like LOUD scrapbooking! So I wanted to come up with ways to use them, that doesn't detract from my photos!

Any questions so far?

I love the colors on the Amber LO.. Totally reminds me of her style! :) I like the color block idea and hadn't really thought of it too much so thanks, you'll be seeing that on a LO soon...

ImageLayout #4 - Even bolder!
I had enough scraps of these papers to do at least one more
layout...and plenty of photos of my nieces in their cute spring
dresses, so I decided to give you a bonus layout, LOL

 No boy colors? LOL....

Loving this class and your LO's. I think this is really going to help me out.

Is there a article on color blocking in the learning section? I've never really "learned" the color blocking method. I've just went by the seat of my pants all the time.

ImageFor this one, I actually used a Pencil Lines sketch. They have a challenge blog and you can win prizes if you link them to your layout using the sketch!
