Progressive Challenge Step 3 UPDATED

Post by traveler »

Please make sure you have completed steps 1 and 2 and posted them to their respective threads before reading on...

Remember those 4 papers you put in your kit in step 1? You will be using them in this step. You do not need to use them up but you you need to use at least some of each paper. Using the paper do the following things:
  • cut 3 or 4 rectangles (they can be long strips, square, or somewhere in between) and layer them on your page
  • die-cut, punch, or fussy cut a shape out of one of them and put that on your page
  • if you would like to mat your photo(s) do that now using those papers (optional)
  • if you would like to journal, cut a journaling shape out of one of the papers and journal on that now (optional)
  • adhere the rectangles, the shape, the photos, and the optional journaling onto your prepared background paper.
Some rules and guidelines...
  1. Do not save your space in this thread. Just post when you have completed the step
  2. take a photo/photos upload them into the ACOT gallery (marked private) and post the image(s) here is this thread
  3. let me know what everything is

UPDATE - RECTANGLES HAVE 4 SIDES AND RIGHT ANGLE CORNERS. SQUARES ARE RECTANGLES. FISHTAIL FLAG ARE NOT, NOR ARE  SLANTED CORNERS.

Step 4  will be posted Tuesday May 7 after 6:30pm or early Wednesday morning so you need to complete this step by then to receive full credit.

Is there a limit for the number of die cuts we can use in this step? Are we only allowed one?

The heart is my die cut shape in one of the papers. The other 3 papers are layered under the photos.

Can we put white paper on the journaling piece to write on it?  My patterns may be too bright or dark or busy to write directly on...TY

Not sure, I don't think I have one but will check....I will make it work with a black pen or just leave off journaling. I haven't looked at the papers well yet I just thought I'd ask ahead cause it's the first thing I thought of..Thanks!

Louise, I am in LOVE with this layout and it's not even finished!!!!!  That black ink really sets things off!  I stamped and fussy cut the butterfly.  What a fun challenge this is!!!  The picture is of our niece in law Bella and our grand niece Emily who is sniffing a sunflower.

This is such a fun challenge! I can't wait to see what's next!
I punched the scallop circle and the patterned papers are diagonal from each other. Two at the top and two at the bottom. I also made a journal box and matted my photos.

I didn’t specify the shape of the photo so yes. But, that doesn’t count as the shape from one of the 4 papers

Here is my submission for Step #3.
**- I had all full size papers, so I was able to cut full size rectangles from each one to layer onto the black background. In my mind, the green is representing a tennis court...now...if it stays that way after step 4 will be the question!! LOL

**-I fussy cut the word LOVE from the back side of the BLUE paper. (Love in Tennis)

**-I fussy cut one photo and mounted onto the remaining paper from the backside of the green. Then I mounted the larger photo on the leaf paper.

**- I journaled on a  small strip and mounted that. (I used the backside of the green scrap paper.)

My LO
I cut out the flag from one piece of paper (my die cut). Another used for the photo mat. Third one used as is - dinosaur big stripe. I cut out 3 squares from the last one.

I used 3 rectangles...2 green/blue and 1 gold/orange
I used a Kiwi Lane template to fussy cut out a wavy border (which sits on top of the wide green/blue rectangle).
I did not mat my photos.
I used a Kiwi Lane template to make a minty green journal box. (bracket)

What about the enamel dots or brads we had set aside to use with this challenge?
