Lila Crayne and Kurt Royall are the quintessential power couple: Lila, the beautiful and talented “Girl Next Door” actress and Kurt, the brilliant director. Though he is 18 years her senior, his “discovery” of her led to her acting breakthrough and their relationship has been solidified ever since. Therefore, when Lila is contacted by a promising young screenwriter with a script that is a feminist reimagining of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s Tender is the Night, she knows Kurt is the best person to bring this important story to life.
In order to prepare for her role, and connect with her character’s abusive past, Lila seeks help from the area’s leading expert on trauma (and, as it so happens, F. Scott Fitzgerald, as well), psychologist Dr. Jonah Gabriel. As her sessions with Jonah become more intimate, Lila starts to unlock some of her own personal trauma, including the true nature of her relationship with Kurt. However, Lila and Jonah cannot ignore their mutual attraction and professional lines soon begin to be crossed. Before long, events spiral out of their control, begging the question, where does one draw the line between infatuation and obsession?
OPTION 1: OBSESSION
Some obsessions, like the ones in this book, are decidedly unhealthy, whereas others are less so. For example, I would consider myself obsessed with reading, chapstick, and stationery supplies of any kind and, except for maybe putting a dent in my wallet, none of these obsessions has caused me any harm. So, for Option 1, make a page about a healthy obsession you have; one that brings your life joy, not destruction and pain.
OPTION 2: TENDER IS THE NIGHT
F. Scott Fitzgerald, and his novel Tender is the Night, are major themes throughout the plot, shaping the way many of the characters interact with one another. Published in 1934, the novel has undergone many re-releases and as a result, has myriad cover designs. For Option 2, choose one of the cover designs below and use it as inspiration for your page. It can be the colors, the graphics, the title placement, the font, or the overall design, but when posting, please note which cover provided your inspiration and how your page relates to it.
