A new year, and it seems like we just started the last one!  lol  This year, our winter hasn't been very winter-like, yet.  I would usually be pulling a mood board with some snow, but the colors around me aren't making me go that way. :)  So for this New Year's mood board, I'm going with wine!  You must use the color scheme of  burgundy/wine and blush/peach with no other colors, except for neutrals, and 3 additional inspirations from the mood boards below.  Be sure to let us know what inspired you!  Bonus entry in the prize drawing if you use the quote at the top right!

*You have until midnight, January 31 to upload your layout into the gallery spot provided to be entered in the drawing for a prize from my stash.
*May be combined with one other challenge that allows combining.
*Must be a new layout.

I love this color scheme but found it extra challenging because I don't seem to have inks these colors (which is odd because I have a lot of inks) so I used my copic markers sort of as ink.I decided to use peach more than burgundy and my 3 inspirations are the leaves in the upper left inspired my texture leaves, the roses inspired my layered flowers and the way the purse is hanging from her hand inspired my hanging stars at the top.

Layout created for the january moodboard challenge, combined with the Weekly sketch january 9th challenge.

Moodboard: I was inspired by the lady walking on cobblestones, the droplets on the leaves, and the fashionable lady.

Here is mine, combined with the weekly sketch challenge.

I was inspired by the following:

  • All the texture on the berries and yarn. I added texture with an embossing folder. Too bad a didn’t have one that looks like the berries!
  • Text surrounded by filagree. I used a tag that had text and an elaborate border.
  • Dark red flowers. Both my background paper and some embellishments I used feature flowers so dark they are almost black!

I was inspired by the bricks to use the small pieces of paper with the spaces in between like the grout setting, nuvo drops to recreate the shine of the nail polish, the quote, and the three eye shadow palettes in a row.

I was inpsired by the wine-burgundy color and used that for a background. That quote photo in the top corner inspired me to have a large quote of sorts going down my page. I also tried to paint a few flowers.

Love these ideas and this challenge! I chose this picture of my mare, Luna, wearing her winter blanket which is a beautiful burgundy color that aligns nicely with your challenge! The accents and pattern paper I used are natural (silver/gray/white). The other elements that inspired me from your challenge are the wool and yarn which is reflected in the gray pattern paper with knitted patterns that look like they are made of yarn. And the third element is the lipstick picture you included. My horse has a beautiful muzzle covered in snow as her "lipstick"! Thanks again -- I had a lot of fun doing this page.

Love this color combo and alll the inspiration options! I had to dig deep into my stash for this older K&Company K-Ology Hannah collection, Deja View alpha stickers-tag with eyelet-cord, EK Success Inspirables collection, and Authentique Petit Type Square Alpha stickers. Also used the deckle cartridge on my Cutterpede by EK Success.

Frustrated that the photo looks way more red than it should (I added a closeup of the paper in the gallery). IRL, it’s more like a rich cabernet! Anyway, I took inspiration from the bokeh like effective from the first photo, the knit/yarn, and the shiny quality of the nails and candle….there’s a closeup of the holographic sticker sheet I used over one of the mat layers.

Loved this board.  My three inspirations were the circles in the top corner that look like grapes, the brick road (washi tape with color blocks) and flowers. Used the quote as well.
