Welcome to the December 2024 month of this challenge - month 18, I am not sure how many more months this will run but it has been fun so far. I really did not think I would be able to make it run this long. I love looking at your unique stories about YOU. If you are new here, this challenge came about after a conversation with my 22 year old son about a certain event and how I did not want to include a "bad' picture of myself, there are many as a busy mom. He then asked that I include more of myself in our books. It occurred to me that we, the scrappers are usually behind the camera and often fail to scrap ourselves - this is a means to remedy that.
Sooooo....in light of that, this challenge is to get YOU in your albums, your kids albums, your grandkids albums, they want to see/hear YOU!!!
November is typically the month of family and traditions, some that have been passed down for years and years.
So this month...... I want you to create a layout about a tradition that YOU have created or continue on as part of your family's history. Something that is uniquely important to YOU!!! Being that this is about a family tradition and December is a crazy busy month, want to make this easier this time. you may have a picture of you, of you and your family OR just the tradition. Your choice.
Here is my example: (Full disclosure, my layout is not new but yours MUST be). When my boys were born, I started buying a few ornaments each year of whatever they were into that year or from wherever they had gone. 29 years later. I have an entire tree full. I am now continuing the tradition with my ODS significant other and someday hope to do the same with my grandchildren. It is an amazing walk down memory lane each year.
Must be a new layout, paper or digital, single or double page. Layouts only.
You can combine with ONE other challenge that allows it.
Limit ONE entry. Please link your work here. Deadline is December 31, 2024. A , winner from all entries done correctly will be selected for a $5.00 ACOT gift card from me.

Just to clarify - it says picture of you, you and your family OR the tradition - and then in all caps it says it must have a pic of you?
Thanks

Sorry, I forgot to erase that. To make it easier, I always just cut and paste the month before then edit. I missed that. I continued our Christmas cookie baking tradition when my dear MIL passed away. My Mom has helped me for the past 15 years.

Oh my gosh, I was doing the same thing with my kids! I tried to leave a little note with each ornament so when they unbox them to decorate their own tree someday they will find the notes too. Great challenge! Thank you!

I'm thrilled to share this page I put together with help from SandyJay! Our family has a long tradition (multiple generations now) of writing poems and exchanging a gift that accompanies the poem. It's our most favorite part of the Christmas holiday! (and trust me, none of us are expert poets, but it's a blast to see how creative each of us can be!)

P.S. I shared this page with my family last night, and my husband asked, "these are great, but where are you?". My reply? "No one takes pictures of me!". He chimed in and said he'll be sure to take some this year, and my son said he would as well! Bonus benefit! Ha ha ha!

It is our tradition to go biking at the new year with our son and DIL. We didn't make it on new year's day but went the following weekend last year.
Retired, scrapping and happy!

One of my most cherished possessions is my Great Grandmother's telephone bench. One of my earliest memories involves sitting on this bench in her home. Now it sits in our home and I love taking photos of my grandchildren sitting on their Great-Great-Great Grandmother's bench making memories like I did when I was their age.

here's my take! tradition of getting new ornaments for the tree every year that highlight the year.. usually a frame for a family photo, something for our doggie & my boys pick one or two based on their favorite things from the year!

When my kids were babies, we made it a tradition to always spend a night together enjoying the zoo lights. Now that my kids are older, we still do this - and now we have a granddaughter, the tradition will continue!
