June Pick a Day Challenge

Post by Mommyof5 »

Hello, Cherries!  Welcome to JUNE!

AFTER speaking with Laura (Flasher) for a bit, I am super excited to announce that I am honored to be hosting the Pick A Day Challenges going forward! Thank you so much, Laura, for entrusting this challenge to me!

I know I am late with June, but we only spoke a few days ago, and I needed to get my example layout and Calendar ready!  :greenlol:
BUT...Here it is AND I have July and August calendars and pages prepped as well!  WOOO HOOO!
I have always loved this challenge, and hope you all do as well!
I will be sticking with the same basic rules set forth by my predecessors.  They are amazing and I do not want to diminish the integrity of this challenge at all!

So...without FURTHER ADO...

Here is how this Challenge works. Each day of the month has something attached to it -- national brownie day, national bacon day, national fly a kite day, etc.  Some of the holidays are WACKY and wild...and a few even a little over the top...but ALL are actual holidays.
Each month I will post the prompts for that month.  Your challenge is to pick a day of the month and base your layout around that theme.  There is also a theme for the month as well. If you choose the theme of the month, your name will be entered twice in the drawing for a winner.

THE RULES:
~Your layout must be new, can be paper or digital.
~Cards are allowed
~ Post your layout or card to this thread by June 30th at midnight, and please note which day you chose.
~You may post as many as you want, but your name will only go in the drawing once
(unless you get at additional entry for using the monthly theme or OCCASIONAL twist.)

As I am offering a monetary reward to the winner, I want to make sure that all of you Cherries have the same opportunity to win, as many of you do not have as much time to scrap as others. (I am one of the ones without much scrappy time!)
This is the only way I knew to make it fair for all participants.  (Keeping Susan's original wishes/rules in place.)

You may combine with one other monthly Challenge that allows it.  One randomly chosen Cherry will be chosen for a $5 ACOT GC from me!  If you have any questions, please let me know! Have fun! I can't wait to see which "WACKY" Holidays you all scrap about!

Here is your JUNE calendar:
Image

I have used June 25th "Leon Day".  It is actually a day celebrating the EXACT halfway mark to Christmas Day. However, When your son's name is Chance LEON, Everyday is Leon Day!!!
** I also did this for Tammey's "My Mood Challenge" and used her twist of a closeup.

I know some people have difficulty seeing the words on the calendar, so I have listed the WACKY holidays for you:

What a fun challenge.  I chose June 19 - National Martini Day.  Layout at Pat O'Brien's Restaurant & Bar in New Orleans.  Added a martini glass embellishment.  Combined with the Where in the World is Carmen SanDiego challenge.

thank you for typing them out, I always have so much trouble reading the calendars on this computer. My son's middle name is also Leon and it was my grandfather's name. Maybe there's an idea for this challenge.

Love your example.

Thank you so much! And I am so glad that my listing the days helped!  I know it was difficult for me to see, and if I was struggling, chances are...someone else would too.  SOO glad it helped!

Number 28 NATIONAL CAPS LOCK DAY
Well the title couldn't be any bigger capital letters and I made sure everything else was ALL CAPS. PS - I fixed the wonky word strip.
I'm just disappointed that I don't have a photo for Naked Cycling Day. lol
