I went home last night and all those suckers were dead - everywhere, and the nest was still there, but you could see all the chemicals dripping from behind the shutter. I am supposing a few of these yellow jackets came back to the hive, only to get hit head on with that stuff, so they were wobbling around drunk on my porch and this morning, they too were dead. So I am guessing that's that. I don't know if they are going to remove the hive behind the shutter or not - it seems that while it would be nice to know it's GONE, I'm told by several people that once it's destroyed, no other queen and her worker bugs will show up. So maybe leaving it is the choice? I think the storms will take a lot of it down anyway over the summer. It's hidden, you have to look for the dead ones and the hive. I only noticed them because of the moving. And the wall inside was not compromised.
I have a HUGE nest of yellow jackets behind my shutter. So I call the HOA this morning, tell them, and they called pest control. The guys asked me to describe it. I said "If you look sideways at the shutter you can see the yellow jackets and the nest - it's about a foot high in height, between my shutter and the house. They said "Oh no it's not, they built into your WALL, and are getting the material from inside your wall between the bedroom and the insulation. Press LIGHTLY against the wall and it'll probably be soft. That's where it is, it's huge if it's that big from the side already. " HOLY CRAP!!!
