Anyone else feel the earthquake today? (Jan 27)  Apparently the epicenter was off the coast of Portsmouth and recorded in York. My house was vibrating and I told my husband I think it's an earthquake.

I saw that on the news!  You just never know what Mother Earth is going to share with us.  Hope everyone affected is okay.

Yep, we get them!

I didn't know this though. Just learned something new!
one of the characteristics of the earth’s crust in the northeast is that it is very cold and cold rocks tend to transmit energy very quickly, so it’s not surprising that we would feel and earthquake in Maine all the way in western Massachusetts. “What’s so interesting is, if a similar size earthquake happened in California, it would not be as widespread. It would only be felt in the local region because the rocks are a lot hotter,” she explained.

It seems that many people felt the earthquake on January 27. The epicenter was off the coast of Portsmouth and recorded in York. Small earthquakes like this can cause vibrations in homes, and it's completely normal to feel it. If you're feeling anxious, make sure you have a safety plan in case of a larger earthquake.
