Make sure you visit as many of the hotels as you can on the strip. Most of the hotels have interesting things going on in them or beautiful displays. The shows are really good, but expensive. I saw Jersey Boys and Mama Mia.Sometimes you can find some coupons for various things in Vegas. Two things that I really enjoyed doing was going to Hoover Dam and the Grand Canyon.

Check out the 1/2 Price Ticket booths. Sometimes you can get great deals on shows. And I second what was said about just walking the strip. There is a ton of stuff to see at the hotels... and quite a few "free" shows, like the Bellagio Fountains, the Pirate show at Treasure Island, etc. And if you can spare the money, I would highly recommend going to the Eiffel Tower at night. The view is incredible... so is the view from the top of the Stratosphere!

Re: Who has been to Vegas????
I went about 7 years ago with the guy I was dating at the time and another couple. We arrived at about 9pm and dropped our luggage in our rooms then went straight out to get something to eat and just walked and hung out, got a feel for the place the first night. Any shows you really want to see, make sure to book ahead, they will be hard to get into esp if they are popular. We took one day to just lay by the pool, walk the strip, etc and one day we rented a car and went to Mead Lake and Hoover Dam (gorgeous!))) I saw Blue Man Group there, they were hilarious!!! They were the show I remember the most!

Like the rest of them said, walk the hotels on the strip, with a Yard drink in your hand :winkb: It will make it way more fun and will be interesting to see which one of you girls ends up topless in a fountain :-D!

I love walking the malls in the daytime...Caesars is truly incredible, the ceiling switches from dark to light, and there is at least one free show there. Lay by the pools and have the cute cabana boys bring you drinks...my fave is the Frozen Vodka Lemonade. Very refreshing!

I've seen all of the Cirque du Soleil shows in Vegas with the exception of the one with Celine Dion music (gag!) and my fave is Mystere at Treasure Island...have seen it four times and would go again tomorrow if you asked me!

When are you going? Vic and I are driving down to Vegas this coming Sunday!

Definintely visit Old vegas! it was awesome. It's on Fremont street and there are a lot of hotels and clubs along there and they have an awesome free music/video show that is above the street. It was by far the best night we'd had out in Vegas (even though iw as sick!) so I def say to visit there!

Re: Who has been to Vegas????
The Dueling Pianos at Harrah's is fun. If you're into Country Music stop by Toby Keith's I Love This Bar & Grill, also at Harrah's, and have a fried bologna sandwich (basically ham). Get a bus pass, it's like $7 for 24 hours, take a ride around Vegas, from the top of the bus. Also take the bus down to Fremont Street and catch the light show. While you're there hit up Binion's to see the 1 million in cash and then go to the Golden Nugget to see the worlds largest gold nugget (it's in the back of the hotel). Bill's Gamblin Hall has cheap drinks - like $1.50 for a small margarita. They also have Fat Elvis - an Elvis impersonator, he's really good and it's free, usually in the evening, check the hotel website for times. Take a walk thru the Wynn, and make a pit stop in the restroom (sounds dorky but) it has the coolest one I've ever seen. Wynn has a beautifully tiled floor also. Stop by Circus Circus and go upstairs to the game area - it's just a big arcade area, but fun to be silly for a while. Also they put on an acrobat show that's worth watching if you can make the times.

Hope this helps, tried to add on some things that weren't mentioned yet.

There's so much to see and do . . . my husband and I went and just visited as much as possible on the strip. The fact that you can have beer at McDonald's was the craziest thing to me. You'll have a great time!

Re: Who has been to Vegas????
Man, I wish I would have had this thread when DH and I went many years ago! You all have some great ideas. We were pretty broke when we went (mainly went because we had free airfare, but didn't have much to spend). We stayed at Excalibur, went to Luxor a lot because that's where we had the best luck, and then one day we went down the strip, hitting as many casinos and shops as we could to see what they were like. There was like a monorail thingy that was helpful in getting back when we were so tired! But we took pictures in each casino we went to, and got 2 $1 tokens (so we could see both sides when we had them on display...although that project is still not done). We did lots of window shopping but did buy a few things. Didn't really have money to see any shows. But there were lots of small little free things so just be on the lookout for them (there was a funny story about a performer near Excalibur, I think...long story short, he picked me, Miss Super Shy herself, to be a part of his show...DH still teases me about that! But it was fun!) Good luck, have a blast and take lots of pics to scrap! :-D

Re: Who has been to Vegas????
I live in Vegas so I'll throw in my two cents worth. For interesting photo ops INSIDE, visit The Venetian and Paris. Most of the hotels and casinos have shopping areas, but they're pricey. But if you just want to see what the rich folks buy, try the mall at Caesar's or the Fashion Show Mall (which is right on the strip). IF you have a fear of heights, do NOT go up in the Eiffel Tower or the Stratosphere. Dh nearly passed out on the glass elevator to the top of the Eiffel Tower. If you have absolutely NO FEAR of heights, try some of the crazy rides at the top of the Stratosphere. New York New York is fun and also has some interesting photo ops. You really kind of have the feeling you're in New York, particularly, like me, if you've never REALLY been there. The Bellagio has a conservatory with floral designs that change out seasonally and a very famous blown glass ceiling display. "nother great place to take photos. If you don't mind spending $25 and surrendering your camera, the Titanic exhibit is here and I found it interesting. As others have said, the shows are expensive. But all the hotels have rockin' bar areas where you can just go in, order a drink, and relax while listening to music. Someone else recommended the dueling pianos. I haven't done that in quite a while, but it was great fun. If you have any specific questions, just PM me. I'm going to send you a PM about taxicabs......

I haven't been there in about 20 years, so I'm not much help. DD was there in May and had a great time, but I don't know any details. I can check with her if you don't get the answers you need.

do you have AAA? check out if they have any deals. My sis' boyfriend has been a few times and was telling me about a nice hotel off the main strip that is just as nice as those on the stip but less costly!
