in alabama most people just say coke...if not they say the actual name...no soda or pop here!

I grew up in central Wisconsin...it is pop there.
I live in southeastern Wisconsin....it is soda here

I'm in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada and we pretty much always call it by name be it Coke or 7-up or whatever. But on occasion it will be called it pop.

I've lived in various places. Here in WA it's half and half, but I think the 'locals' say pop. I say soda...in NY, AZ, VA, MD it was soda. In KS it was pop.

I find the same thing with bag and sack. In KS they said sack..it went along with the whole pop thing.

In Ireland the generic name for everything fizzy is called lemonade otherwise you ask for a brand name

I was raised in Michigan/Ohio, and we called it pop, then moved to Joisey where its now called soda. And, I still have my midwest accent, which I will die with, God willing! And these easterners laugh at the way I say water!

We just call it by whatever is on the label - Coke, Pepsi, Sprite, etc.

Growing up in Texas we called pretty much everything that fizzes under the sun 'Coke' but then I moved to Nebraska and all my friends called it 'pop' or 'soda' and here in Las Vegas it's Soda.

Southern Wisconsin...I drink root beer. But once in a while a 50/50 or Sprite SODA - the latter in particular mixed with cranberry/mixed juices. Yum! Still, I have maybe 2-3 a month. Water is my thing.

I usually always just ask for a Diet Coke or Coke.. even if I'm at establishment that only serves Pepsi, b/c its the normal thing I drink, its not that I put "Coke" as anything that is fizzy category. I'm from Indiana and moved to Florida and have never said or heard pop or soda before. I think its cool to hear the differences throughout the areas.

Here it is commonly called coke or pop. But my husband was born in Connecticut and has us all saying 'soda'
