So I just got this insane burst of energy, and I decided to build a wardrobe I bought at Ikea. Well, I didn't realize it would require hammering. It's 11:19 pm, and I'm guessing that's too late to hammer, right? I don't want to be that neighbor that hammers at all hours, but I really want to finish that thing! I'm sure they've heard me make plenty of sex noises, and they've never complained... Well, I guess sex noises are nicer to listen to than hammering...
Anyway, how early is too early if I have to wait until tomorrow? Is 9:00 am ok?
9am is probably okay - do most people in your building work during the day?

Depends on who u want to piss off! If u had neighbors like we do. And they use their leaf blower at 6:30am and on a Sunday to boot. Then 6:30 am is good in my book!
9-9:30am is a good time. If u really want to play it safe, check out the noise ordinance in your area.

Yeah. My building is full of hipsters and intellectuals that work at non-profits and as journalists and post-docs. They all wear dark, plastic glasses and cordoroy jackets with elbow patches. They complain about everything, and they use words that don't really mean anything. Like "postmodern."deerewife wrote:9am is probably okay - do most people in your building work during the day?

I'd say anything past about 9:30 pm is too late, but 9 am should be fine in the morning! I'm a night owl & would be doing it at 11 pm, but not if I were still in an apt.
yup - it's too late. But - you could lay some cloth over what you are hammering to dampen the sound... just sayin...

LMAO! If they've heard the first at all hours of the day and night, I truly don't think 9:00 am is too early.

Go for it. Anybody who wears elbow patches in this day and age deserves a little hammering. ;o)

LMAO! I've never thought about it (or said it, since I'm not a hipster), but "postmodern" is a really stupid word. Perhaps its the hipster word for psychic?
As for the hammering, I think a good no-hammering time would be 9pm-9am. I lived in a big apartment building for some years, and I think any hammering between those hours would have irritated me.
Anything after 10PM is unacceptable at our house but anything after 8AM is ol at our house. Hammer away and take some pics so we can see what all the fuss was about. lol
I don't call people before 9am or after 9pm, so that probably works for hammering too.
I'd agree that after 9:30 pm is too late but around 9.00 am is okay. Good Luck with it!

That's kind of how I felt about it, but alas, I didn't hammer last night... And now, I'm not in the mood to build anything. So I have an overturned, half-built wardrobe in my floor. I've tripped over it twice on the way to pee.JDs Mom wrote:Go for it. Anybody who wears elbow patches in this day and age deserves a little hammering. ;o)

Eh. I don't think it's exciting enough to warrant picture-taking. Here's a pic from the Ikea website. At $100, it was basically the cheapest one they sell that would be big enough to hold my clothes. Well, at least my winter clothes. Ok, half of my winter clothes...

I was in bed last night by 8pm, I didn't even hear the phone ring.
Sounds like you're on ET, so I think you would be safe by now!
Have a blessed day!
Depends on what is being hammered.

Oh Beth, you know that my wardrobe wasn't the only thing that got hammered last night...Beth-W wrote:Depends on what is being hammered.
