My Jonny wants a doll. He's discovered mine - the one I got when I was 6mos - and carries it around everywhere. Unfortunately, I'm positive it's a health hazard - it was one of those feed and wee dolls, and I'm positive it's full of mold. I just can't get rid of it for sentimental reasons. Anyway, he wants a doll - he has asked for one, but DH is against it... Would you get one anyway?

yep! My son had a little boy cabbage patch and he loved him... and I'm convinced he will be a better daddy for it one day....

What about a Cabbage Patch Doll? They have boy ones.
Nothing wrong with a boy playing with dolls. Teaches them to be caring & nuturing. Some day he may be a dad or a Pediatrician. But I have a friend who was totally against his son playing with my dd's dolls. He would just freak out. But was okay with his son playing with a GI Joe or an action figure.

I think Sus hit the nail on the head.
What's the difference if a little girl wants a dump truck to play with?

If life gives you lemons, go find an annoying person with paper cuts.
I would. Today my 2 year old daughter was "vroom-vrooming" cars all over the living room!
I †hink I just migh† ge† him one for Christmas... Unfortunately, no Cabbage Patch over here, but I'm sure I'll find something!

My son had an imitation Cabbage Patch boy doll that went everywhere with him. My sister made it for him.
Sometimes men are so silly about these things. It doesn't make a boy any less of a boy if he plays with dolls.

My nephew plays with baby dolls. I think that it is never to early to start learning some father skills. He is the only grandson so that probably explains some of it. However, I would buy a doll - just try to find a boy one.
I don't think there's anything wrong with it. They need to love and nurture, too.

I definitely would get him a doll. It encourages nurturing and caring behaviors. I too think children should be able to play with whatever toys they want...eli has babies as well as cars, trucks, trains, etc.

Don't fear the challenge, challenge the fear.

My DS was given a Little People Freddy (I think that's his name) doll a couple of years ago. It has a button, zipper, buckle, etc. Maybe you could find one something like that and have less resistance from your DH.

My son had a doll for a while...he took it everywhere with him... when he got a bit older he decided that his sister would take better care of his baby so he gave it to her... but every once in a while he will play dad to his sisters dolls
I don't see anything wrong with it. My boys had a boy cabbage patch doll and they played with it a while and that was it. No big deal. I do think it encourages nuturing.

Hmm...I bought a little soft doll for ds before he was born...It was a little boy. I even have pics where they look like they're wearing the same thing (by accident). But he outgrew it fast. I don't think at that age they see it as any different as a stuffed animal... but the dh issue is tricky, huh?
