Flu or Cold???

Okay so what is the difference between a cold and the flu? The reason I ask is because I am so sick today and it hit me so fast! How can you tell the difference?

Here's my symptoms:
fever around 100
bad cough (My head hurst even worse when I cough.)
terrible headache
my back hurts
the back of my neck hurts
my hip joints are aching
terrible sore throat (I still have my tonsils.)
tired (I even fell asleep during the day which is odd for me.)
no stuffy nose or runny nose

I am going with FLU

I don't usually ache in my joints with a cold. But everyone is different.

flu i belive the body aches make it the flu

Go and get checked out! There are some anti-virals they can give you, but only in the first 48-72 hours, if it's the flu.

The fever, aches and pains make it sound like the flu to me.

Call the doc to see if you can get some of that stuff that is supposed to help shorten it.

in the meantime, rest, aspirin, showers (Not too hot or your fever won't go down) lots of fluids. Let others take care of you so you have time to come here and play.

t's the flu. A cold doesn't normally give you a fever. Sounds like what I was at last wednesday (except mine was strep throat but same symptoms pretty much). I had a sore throat tuesday, but was alright, wednesday at about 6am woke up my body in extreme pain I could barely walk and a 101 fever. So it hit hard and fast.

I hope you didn't catch it from my screen licking!

I work at a hospital, YOU HAVE THE FLU!!!!
Take care of it, you don't want to get bronchitis. You should go see a doctor if possible.

Honestly...in my experience when it comes on that fast...It's neither. It's Strep! Can you get into the doc for a culture just to make sure?

If it's not strep...then everyone else is right. It's the Flu.

Could be, but with strep your tonsils or tonsil get really swollen and you can see white dots on them. Also, you get bad breath and if you don't take care of it with antibiotics you start getting a rash on your body (scarlet fever) Strep troat is serious, it can hurt your heart.

Aches, pain, fever.....yup, that's the Flu. With a plain cold you can still do most things. But with the flu, you just want to rest. Hope you recover quickly.

Definitely sounds like the flu. You poor thing, I hope you get well very very soon.
Aching joints usually indicate a flu not a cold.
