My mom is . . . for about the last 7 years. She controls it with diet and meds. DH also has diabetes and he takes meds and should watch his diet. They are both Type II, I think.
And, I had bloodwork this morning and that's one of the things they'll be testing me for.

My mom and two of her brothers are. They developed it as adults and are insulin dependent. Diabetes swimming around in my gene pool is the best incentive to keep my weight down.

Me, my Mama, and Daddy are type 2
I was taking meds until about 2-3 months ago. I control it now with my diet and exercise!! It feels GREAT to get off of those meds!!!
My parents take meds.

My sister has late onset type 1 diabetes that she controls with a insulin pump. It is a little pager like machine that she clips to her waistband and it has a little hose that attaches to the needle she pokes into her abdomen. It really keeps her blood sugar at a level mark which is better for her. Though, I will admit...it makes her have some BIG babies!!! She has had a 9pd10oz, a 11pd 12oz and a 10pd10oz baby so far and another big one due any day now. The doctor won't even tell her how big the baby is **LOL**

actually several of my family members are diebetic. My sister is type 1 i think. She has to give herself shots everyday. I know weigth doenst matter but she is onlly about 110 lbs. The other really bad thing for her is when she was 3 she had cancer. Although she has been in remission over 30 years. (her and my little brother both had cancer at the same time. She was 3 he was 2. They both had different forms of it.) He has also been in remission since then.

Type 2 here. Diet and exercise and Metaforman.. My doctor thinks I can reverse it if I drop 30 pounds. Here's hoping! So far, the weight has just shifted.. lost 2 jean sizes since December.

I'm considered borderline - Usually I am low. I need to loose about 20-30 pounds and the dr. thinks I'll be fine again.

Several members of my family suffer from or have passed away from diabetes related illness. I'm at risk not only because of my family history, but also because I have PCOS. I actually will be seeing the doctor in 2 weeks to have some more testing done of my blood sugar levels.
