I used to give, but then I had a couple of times when they couldn't take it b/c of my veins. After that they recommended I not try giving anymore. Maybe in the future I'll attempt again.

No...I wish I wasn't such a suck with needles. And..they don't take a bat to the head to knock me out to do...

I do admire those that do though.

I have donated in the past however I haven't recently. I should, I'm o negative and they always want to take my blood!!

I tried once, but didn't meet the weight at the time. I thought about donating, but one time when I was getting blood drawn for testing in 3 vials, it was very hard to get the 3rd one filled.

Dh is good at donating. He's to the point where he gets car magnets and license plates from them. I think he has about 6 different free shirts from them, too. We get routine phone messages for when he can donate.

I've been giving since I was old enough. I have given over 2 gallons & they give you a pin here for each gallon. I've only ever not done well one time & that was because I didn't eat much before. I haven't given in quite awhile, though... I better get back to it!

i'd like to and at some point should do it.
just that when i was preggo x 4, i spent
a lot of time being a human pin cushion
so i haven't been tempted to do it again.

had no idea O is a special blood? is there also an O positive?
i am actually also type O, but not sure if it's negative or ?...
i've thought about donating blood and will do if they need it.

I have done it twice and both times it made me really sick...however that was when I was in high school and barely over the weight limit. They won't even take my blood these days. I lived in England for 8 years...I could have mad cow disease!!! [Insert CRAZY smiley here]

I do because I have what they call Baby Blood. It is 0 neg and can be given to babies.

I have donated twice before, many years ago before I got anemic (they thought I had a more serious blood disorder, but now they're not sure ). Now, I go in for blood transfusions every 3-4 months. So I appreciate those that do take the time to donate!

It's been years since I've donated blood. They were emergency situations, where I got a call from the hospital asking if I could come and donate. There were only about 7 people in our community with my blood type (B neg). We don't have regular blood donor drives. Shots or having blood drawn have never really bothered me, as long as I don't have to

Hard to believe but for years I was toooo skinny to give blood. they have a certain minimum weight requirement.
Then after my kids I was anemic for ages.
Now I take thyroid meds and they wont take blood if you take those.

Also I am not good with needles.

No, I am with Cindy. I pass out almost every time I have to have blood drawn. I am a border line anemic (yeah, I know...strange on such a 'healthy' gal like me). Because of my meds and this almost anenemia, I am not a good candidate to donate.

A few years after my dd graduate from college, she confessed that she and her sorority sisters would sell blood every now and then to get extra beer money...omg! To their defense, the sorority also gave blood freely at least 4 times a year as a community service.
