I have had the hardest time figuring out how to take great fireworks photos. I've read numerous times that you should put your camera on night mode and slow your shutter speed by I am so clueless to camera settings. LOL My speed is more point and click.  I tried a few different modes last night but found that I got the best shots with it on normal mode, resting the camera on my knee and being very still. When I tried night mode I got a lot of smoke in teh background and because it takes longer to capture the image most of the bursts were falling by the time I got the shot.

 I had to use Enhanse to darken the highlights a bit cause it was sooo sunshiney, it helped darken the blues and reds so there was less sunlight wash out on their bodies.

 You guys got terrific fireworks shots! This year I decided to put down my camera and enjoy more so I didn't get the good ones like I usally do but I had a LOT more fun!

Here a few I did manage to snap - there are a few more but they are more for pages than just uploading.



My one and only fireworks' shot - not good at all this year but my son did a great job with the show!!



Do you have a suggestion on how to "enhance" this shot?  I've played with the contrast but it's not helping much.
It's my son doing "tricks" in front of a fountain and smoke...

 Great photos everyone....thanks for sharing; my dh went to a baseball game in Greensboro while visiting his brother, and he didn't take photos of the fireworks. He did get some of the ball field...I stayed home and babysat the dogs.
