I have wanted to go to CKU forever. I am seriously thinking Provo Aug 6 - 9 Tuition is $ 445.00 the hotel is $109.00 x 4$436.00 plus tax $881.00 plus gas to get there, dinners and extras...I am close enough to drive but still thats a lot of money for just me to go have a blast, not the whole family...Is it worth it??? I am sure I would have a good time but a $1000.00 its hard to think about spending that kind of money on myself. You come out with two mini albums, an interactive album, 2 cubes, Grunge knowledge from Tim Holtz and a memory mirror (whatever that is) plus another album (5 different album classes to choose from) so has anyone been to CKU? They say the new changes are great and the classes are better. Everyone takes the same classes in groups. I am curious to know if you really learned stuff or just had a blast... or both. I guess if I am going to spend that much money on myself I want to know its worth it.
Perhaps I'm not one to ask but I have attended a two CKCs and a CKU-A and I loved the first CKC, the second one was terrible, the classes were horrible and the store part of it was worse. The CKU-A was even worse. I enjoyed my album track but the rest of the classes were terrible. The teachers that were billed as great were not great, one didn't show up and a substitute was put in her place and she was unprepared. One of the classes had "extra" people in it and there people sitting on the floor! Everyone was rushed. The things we made were not as cute as they were described, except in one class by Emily Adams.I know they are trying hard to make some changes this year but for the amount of money that you will spend I would find a really great retreat with guaranteed teachers and classes that you know will be super in a spa like setting. CK does not have a good track record overall for these things.I'm sure there will be others who disagree with me, but there are a lot more like me out there than you think. They're just not as outspoken.
Not what I wanted to hear...but thanks for telling me. You would think they could get it together for the money they charge. $436.00 seems like an outrageous amount of money to me. 500 people times $436.00 is $218,000.00 That is an incredible amount of money. Most of the companies probably donate this stuff for publicity or give them a great deal..........see now I am getting upset. Grump grump grump....we should do our own U of Cherries. I need to hook up with some scrappers before I go nuts...or nuttier anyway.
I have not gone...but personally I think the accomadations should be included in that hefty cost for the tuition. No class is worth that to me....I do not care who is teaching it. JMO though.Hope you get it figured out!!!!!!!!

I have a really uncomfortable hide a bed that could sleep ya for free if you want to make a really long drive to Provo every day from it!
I just went to CKC in Houston last weekend. The shopping was not that great. None of the vendors had anything that I "had" to have. KWIM. The classes were ok. The best one I took was given by Rusty Pickle. The classes sponsered by Creating Keepsakes were not the best. Hope this helps.
Thanks for the info Will. Now I don't feel so bad about missing it. This kitchen redo has turned into a hell pit!!! This is the 3rd week. These guys can't seem to finish what they have started, and they even want to start more. Yesterday morning they were getting ready to start demolishing the cabinets in the main bathroom. The sink and toilet in the master bathroom are not working., The new sink in the kitchen has not been hooked up yet. There is one working sink in the house and they were getting ready to take it out! AAAAARRRRRGGGGHHHHHH!!!!
