Deep sadness here
Our soon to be 15 in Jan. granddaughter caught the dreadful virus EVD 68 in Thanksgiving.  She was in the hospital from Thanksgiving for a week.  Came home partially paralysed on her right side.  Her hand is working better.  But she cannot walk and they cannot guarantee that she will.  It has shaken us up the worst ever.  A beautiful family, sweet daughters and plain out good kids.  They win student of the year awards, academic awards, she's president of her freshman class and excelled in sports.  The family is strong.  She gets therapy at least once and sometimes twice a day.  She can move a toe sometimes and twitch a thigh muscle so there is hope.
This is the virus that went around in the summer and was in all states but 2, Arizona being one of the 2.  Well we are in Arizona and she had it.  Colorado has been hit hard.  They describe it as polio like symptoms.  Anyone that's old enough to remember polio knows what that can mean.  President F.D. Roosevelt had polio and was wheelchair bound, but when he had important announcements like WWII, he went through a great ordeal to get all his body braces on just to walk a few steps and stand and appear strong to our nation.
Our granddaughter has always been determined to do what she wanted.  She always wanted to win and be the best.  Now she is playing a big game in her life to get that leg going.  We are trying to be positive and believe that she will conquer that.  Her mother (my daughter) and father are the best and her younger sister by 2 years is helping all she can.  It's been such a trying time for them.  In early Nov. she had a deviated septum which had a bone spur growing out of it.  The spur was removed as an outpatient and she ended up in the hospital for 3 days.  The spur was over an inch long and a half inch at the base.  No wonder she had constant sinus infections.  Her body just wasn't strong enough to keep that 68 virus out.
We usually take the girls on a shopping trip to get what they really want and then we have a nice lunch at the Olive Garden, which has her favorite Fredercinni (sp)  Alfredo .  We are still planning that.   She has 2 wheelchairs, a really good one she uses most of the time, but a lighter weight one that someone has to push here in.  She hated that one and asked for one she could maneuver herself and be independent.  She went to school a few times before the break and told us she never had to touch her wheels that someone was always pushing her.  Such a sweet and loving child.  She asked the question, Why me, Why.  There's no answer to that.  But they have faith she will have a total recovery.
Thank you for listening .  It does help just to be able to let it out some.

I am sorry to hear about your sweet grandaughter. We just never know what is going to hit any one of us. Sounds like a strong family surrounding her and so glad the kids at school are supportive as well. May she gain full use of her leg, total recovery. My prayer goes out for her and your family.

I'm sorry to hear about your grand daughter.  It's terrible when anything bad strikes any of us, but always a lot harder when they happen to kids.  The positive attitude will go along way!  Good thoughts for your family!
OCD is not an adjective.  It is not a personality quirk. It is not synonymous with being organized.  It is a complex and debilitating mental health illness that affects people of all ages and walks of life, and is defined by the presence of unwanted, intrusive thoughts and repetitive actions. 💙 I am an OCD warrior and I fight for my son. 💙

I am so sorry to hear your about what your grand daughter is going through and what she is facing.  Sounds like she is a go getter and has a positive and a go getter. Her attitude and the great support from family and friends will take her far. We are praying for her and her family and friends.   My best friend uses a wheelchair as she has had both of her legs amputated in the past 10 years. She was born with a condition called neuro fibromytosis.  She has been one of the biggest inspirations to me through her attitude, example. Determination,. She also rand for MIss Wheel Chair of Utah in 2013 and was the 2nd Runner up.  She is amazing.  I share her story because your grand daughter sounds much like her.  Please keep us updated on her progress and how she is doing.   Know we are here for you to talk to and share.   (((HUGS))) to you and your family.
