On the phone with Dell Support . . .

Post by Scrappy69 »

My husband fell victim to one of those pop ups that appears to be a true Microsoft pop up . . . he now has a virus on his laptop. :x I try to be nerdy, but I'm not nerdy enough to fix this. I've tried a system restore, no luck. DARN IT ANYWAY!!!!

What do you have for firewall protection? We have Norton and we contacted them when it happened. They fixed it while on the phone. Mcafee does that to....so sorry, I know how you feel :(

Yeah, I wouldn't call the hardware mfr., I'd call your virus software people. Or look online somewhere like techsupportguy.com - they've got all the common issues listed w/fixes & usually have someone available to answer questions fairly quickly if you need it.

If you can get online, download Panda software. Even if you can put it on one computer load it onto a stick then upload it to the laptop. Once installed keep running it over and over.

You know, I never thought to call McAfee. I might do that tonight. Though I did do a manual system restore and he may be all good now. UGH!
