I would save the dog, carry it with me to work with both of us soaking wet and pray he believed my excuse since I brought the evidence with me. If he fired me I would give him a great big wet hug drenching all the important papers on his desk in the process.

I agree. My job supports my family and puts food in my son's mouth. In this economy, I can't afford to loose my job. I would alert someone to the situation too. I don't think there's anything terrible about your answer.

Save the pooch...I'd be soaked and my boss would know that I'm telling the truth. If I get fired over that, then I really shouldn't be working for an a$$.

While going to try and save the dog I would phone my job and let them know I'd be late due to an emergency.

Don't even have to think twice about this one. I would try to save the dog! Besides, who would want to work for a jerk that would fire you for trying to save a poor animal.

It's very unlikely I'd even remember I couldn't be late, I'm pretty sure I'd jump in to save the dog without thinking.

Re: IF - 513
Save the dog for sure. Then I would be all wet, would have to go home, shower, change again, and by then - may as well take a personal day. But I would have to call into the office before showering so I wouldn't worry about being officially late until that call is made. However, since I work for a man who would totally save the dog himself, it wouldn't even be an issue. I am late to work OFTEN and he doesn't care...because he is never here at 8 am either.;) We have a laid back 2 person office.
