Well it was a sh!tty day at our place, literally!
Not sure how many of you know that we travel with dh to his jobs and we are currently living in Missouri. When we travel with him, we live in a 35' RV. Well, today, it was kind of stinking inside the camper. So, I decided to go out and dump the sewer and flush it out, yada yada. While doing this, I notice a small leak under the camper right below the sewer pipe and grey water pipe. When dh arrived home, I told him and then ran a couple errands. While I was gone, dh tried to unscrew a couple of the screws to check out the leak. Every time he unscrewed one, he was drenched in our sewage. He did it 3 times before he decided enough was enough. The entire under belly of our camper is full of sewage and we don't know how long it has been in there. That means the insulation is drenched in sewage too. Ccan you say NASTY?!?!?!?!?

I am planning to call the insurance company tomorrow and then the local camper place. I am hoping and praying that insurance will cover this. It is going to be expensive and veryt ime consuming. Not to mention quite a nasty job to undertake.

So, if you had a bad day, just remember that your home is not filled with p**p!! I am hoping and praying for a better day tomorrow.

Oh crap! That stinks! ...seriously, I really hope your insurance covers this and it can be repaired quickly. What a hassle to now deal with an insur. co. Best of luck.

Yes, when we travel with dh. But when we are home, we live in a big house. So from one extreme to another. lol

Thanks for all the well wishes. I am really hoping and praying that the insurance company pays for it all. Thank goodness lots of people are praying for us. It just seems like we can't catch a break right now. But things will get better soon, I am sure of it!

Ouch, I can sympathize! Although we never had the black water tank fail in a camper we have had water intrusion. We had two fall apart. Insurance luckily paid them off. With the second we decided to downsize since the kids were in college, much to their dismay. Larry did his research and decided the only camper to have is an Airstream. We didn't want to spend the cost of a house so we started our search into older models. We both fell in love with the "vintage" ones. After purchasing two we finally decided on giving them to his brother and wait until we found the right one at the right price. End result a 1959. Everything is original. Except for a very few things Larry has redone using the old as a template. We have to replace the gas bottles, a window and a buff job is needed. The curtains were replaced. We are taking it for an overnight right now instead of getting a hotel room. It's fun sleeping in a camper two months older then my hubby!

I so hope you don't have problems with the insurance company like my husband's cousin is having with his right now. There is water damage and roof started peeling off pulling it down to the ranch. He's thinking about an Airstream now. Another friend just got through having his totaled due to water leaking in and he's looking for an Airstream now.

Oh my, what a terrible stinky mess. Hope you are able to get the problem resolved soon and hope insurance will pay for it. I don't know anything about RV's, but it doesn't seem that like should ever happen under any circumstances. If it's still under warranty, I'd be calling the place where you bought it. That could be a major health hazard if it isn't taken care of properly and I would let my voice be heard if anyone trys to rookie doo you.

Ooooh, YUK! Been there, done that. My ex in-laws had an RV, and I remember one trip when the tank backed up into the RV. We had to have all of the flooring, carpeting and cabinets replaced before we could use it again.

Good luck with the insurance company.

Holy Cow! I've never heard of that happening before - what a mess! How do you even get to it - do you have to rip up all the floor to clean it well? I'm so sorry it happened to you. I think it's absolutely wonderful, though, that you go with your DH to wherever his job is; we once had an RN come work at the hospital for 8 months while her dh was working construction; she loved living in the 5th wheeler and being able to go wherever he did.
I wonder, sometimes, if we ever give God a headache.
