I don't mind at all. Actually, I was kinda silly the first time and bought my plaster at Lowe's (4lb for $6), but then I found it at Michaels (8lb for $7!) and if you have a 40% off coupon, even less than that.

So...I'll calculate my first batch, before I figured out the details... Let's see... I made 36 cupcakes with:

4lbs of Plaster of Paris (about 1/2 for "cupcake batter" & 1/2 for frosting) --$6 (Lowe's)

1-2 bottles of acrylic paint (the cheap kind)-- $1 (craft store)

disposable cupcake pans (foil with 36 cupcake wrappers included)-- $3 (grocery store)

water-- free

plastic bowl-- $1

paper clips-- had on hand but $1

So about $12 to make 36.

I think my 2nd batch only cost me about $6 though because I now had the cupcake pan & bowl on hand and only had to buy more wrappers, plaster & paint.

**TIP: USE LOTS OF PAINT FOR VIBRANT COLORS, THE PLASTER REALLY LIGHTENS THE COLOR & MAKES IT SORT OF GRAYISH. ADD WHAT YOU THINK YOU NEED, THEN DOUBLE IT!**

My dd would love to help me make these. We will see if I can do it with a 6 year old. :winkb:

My 3 & 4 year old helped by choosing the colors & sprinkling the glitter. The rest was a little too messy for mom to handle clean up if they "helped". Good luck though!!

And that's the link I used! There are others out there too, but this had the simplest directions. A tip when you're mixing too, the batter should be the consistency of a pancake batter, thick but pourable (I used a plastic spoon to fill the liners, rather than actually pouring). And the frosting should be a little thicker so that you can shape it (think homemade whipped cream, with stiff peaks)

Those are adorable. I would think you could get about $5-7 for one after all it is for charity.

Those are so cute and you're selling them for such a worthwhile cause. Bless your heart, you probably won't look at another cupcake again for a long long time. LOL The little photo holder cupcakes would be great for almost any occasion, especially with the pre-teen crowd. They would make great end of the year teacher gifts, birthday and slumber party favors. I think they should sell well, but I'm sorry I don't have any idea about what price to charge. I know you've put a lot of hard work into the cupcakes because I think one time you gave us instuctions on how to make them. Good luck with your sales!
