I need to make or buy something for Hannah preschool class and usually everyone sends something on holidays. In the past I have fixed different kinds of candy treat bags but would like to do something different this time. I had thought about doing books but can't find any good ones around here. I also need two different ideas because her Monday class is an enrichment class and some of the kids are the same so there I don't want them to get 2 of the same thing.
So if you have any ideas or can let me know what you have done I would appreciate it.
Thanks
All I know is, make sure there are no nuts in it.
No sugar. May cause cavities.
No flour for those who've got wheat allergies.
No fat, because it may cause obesity.
And for goodness' sake, do NOT put ANYTHING to do with Christmas on it or you'll offend someone!

If life gives you lemons, go find an annoying person with paper cuts.
lol Jamie. Isn't that the truth? You can never satisfy everyone no matter what you do. Oh and I happen to be one of those whose dd is severely allergic to all nuts. Play it safe & give them a coloring book or a small story book (not Christmas related) unless you kid goes to a Christian school.Flapdoodle wrote: All I know is, make sure there are no nuts in it.

There are 2 peanut allergies in her class so I never send anything with peanuts.
Her preschool is at a church so its ok to send Christmas stuff and religious stuff.
Thanks

Have you looked at the Target $1 spot? They seem to always have something little girls and boys would like these days. I think there was Hello Kitty stuff there last time I looked. Not sure what was there for the boys.
You could also go to a party store and get goodie bags stuff - I usually put pencils and little ruler stencils in there.

- Angie - Come read my blog!
My sister just did that for my nephew's daycare kids. She found two packs of card games like Go Fish, Old Maid, etc. So i would definitely check there because they seem to add things all the time.mysunshine wrote: Have you looked at the Target $1 spot? I NEED SA - Scrappers Anonymous!!!
Great! Then go with a Holiday book or stores like Michael's has the little wood ornaments with markers for kids to color their own ornaments. My kids enjoy them.dumplin wrote: There are 2 peanut allergies in her class so I never send anything with peanuts.

My kids have always loved to take in the special holiday cups (like from Walgreens) and pencils. One cool thing we got this year is the funky shaped stars (trees, stars etc.). We have rules (in our own home) about candy so we try to not do that. Stickers are wonderful as well - huge packs can always be cut apart. Playdoh may be another good item esp. the little ones that come in the big packs.

a small ornament, a coloring book and small box of crayons????

oh, and nothing homemade. I got "caught" bringing apparent "contraband" homemade cupcakes to the Halloween party at school, nearly got me kicked out and no one could eat them.
I used to be a "celebrity cherry", but now I'm in re-hab...... Holy Carp!
try the party aisle - maybe u can find packs of little playing cards? Maybe even a holiday theme - or tatoos, or sidewalk chalk, or something that is in a multipack so it won't cost an arm and a leg.
Silly Putty?
Little tiny jars of play dough?

I always make apple chips (dehydrated apple rings w/cinnamon and sugar).

here in california, we're not allowed to give out treats of the
diabetic, cavity-causing kind anymore (as per our governor
Ahnold - the Terminator's order and ya don't want to mess
with him, lol) so they've done away with bday celebrations,
cupcakes, pizza... as well as revamped the lunch menu
so, it's been the usual notepads/pencils/erasers/fun lil'
straws/stickers/cutesy tattoos/crayons/small toys, etc.

In the kindergarten class I teach, I have a severe diabetic and one who is allergic to cinnamon. I also have a Jehovah's Witness who doesn't celebrate Christmas, Halloween or birthdays!!!
When my grandchildren were in preschool (and 2 still are), the things they really liked most were the little things you can get usually at like Party City ... little packet of crayons, pencils, erasers, a smaller coloring book. Isn't it weird (I'm don't mean that MEAN ... kinda like strange) how kids now days can't tolerate so much when it comes to food. Allergies to nuts, wheat (so no flour) or dairy products. I'm not a food professional or whatever but I wonder if has something to do with the way we process foods these days??? I am honestly curious about it.
Thanks everyone I have done playdoh, and most of what ever else everyone mentioned. I will go back to the Target $1 spot and check there.
We don't have any party stored around here. I may try and find color books & crayons.
Thanks.

What I've done for my kid's class is called Snowman soup (see, no religious connection!). Before it was uncool to bring anything homemade, I mixed up some of the bulk hot cocoa, put it in a bag, included a small baggie of marshmallows (separate in case anyone doesn't like them-like me), and tied on a tag with instructions and a handy dandy snowman sitting in a bowl stamp I found at another site and a candy cane to stir it all up. Now we just do one individual pack of instant hot cocoa in a bag, include some marshmallows and tie it all up with the before mentioned tag and candy cane stir stick.
