LOL maybe it's OCD. She's soon to be 10 y/o and I've been noticing that she is VERY particular about certain things, like her bed. I cannot turn down her bed for her at nite cause I muss the blanket. It has to be just so. I can't move her pillows or animals on the bed, they have to be just so. In the morning, despite my yelling that she's gonna be late for school if she doesn't get a move on, she insists on making her bed perfectly before anything else. Yesterday, we were cleaning up and using her wastebasket, after she emptied it I dropped in a few more trash items and she cried "MooooooM!" and rushed to empty it again. LOL I joked with her, why did the trash can have to be completely empty, it defeats its purpose in life.
Are your kids very particular about their things?
I think kids go through that. But I agree, it sounds like OCD--my niece is that way here at work...lol
\
Not particular at all, unfortunately!
Sounds a little OCD to me. I'm the same way.

I wish too...but mine are the complete opposite.
She sounds like she is exploring her perfectionist side...maybe?

It does sound a little OCDish. Just keep an eye on her for some of the more severe signs like excessive hand washing or hair pulling out, that type of stuff.
Yes my dd is that way...just a little backward! Every toy must be on the floor somewhere if it's in its box it must come out! All clothing must be on the closet floor if it's hung up down it comes! Hair must always be just so...like it is never combed! Get the idea! Maybe I'll send her over so your daughter can help her! LOL
My 8 yo dd is like that with her bed, 8 animals that have to share the bed is specific positions.....I see quite a bit of me in her & she laughs everytime I tell her that she's just like her mother We've had a few issues in school where she'll stop her class work just so she can arrange/fix things in the classroom the way it was & should be according to her.
Is she that way about her room or everything else as well? If it's just her room, I would think she would be "experimenting" with being neat. Is her sister messy?

perfectionist side huh? well that could be my fault. lol I tend to be pretty organized myself and I wash my hands all the time but I blame that on the pretty BBW soaps. haha
naw, she's pretty much only like that with her own stuff, she isn't like a neat freak throughout the house or even with her looks, she's actually a bit of a tomboy. gee I wish it'd rub off on her little sis, she tends to be a mess.
I have observed that little kids like to group things together, like in the checkout line at the store and they have to organize the candy racks. LOL

I think it is great that she takes pride in her room like that!
Doesn't sound worrisome to me at all as you said she is not like that in all areas.

Oh how I WISH my DDs were a little like that. Everything goes on the floor in this house. Nothing gets put away. Cereal boxes and milk left on the table. Clothes on the floor right next to the hamper. Trash misses the trash can 99% of the time and stays where it lands. Wet swim suits wadded up in a ball on the bathroom floor along with the clothes they took off. When they come in they put on fresh clothes. What's a mom to do?
lol, my 5 year old nephew was explaining to my mother the definition of 'organization' one day while she was babysitting him. Apparently grandpa's desk was not organized ad Dominnic could not stand it. He also does not like it when his sisters have dirty clothes on the floorand he makes them put things in the hamper. My sister says out of her 5 kids he is the only one that cleans his room AND he tries to clean the other kids rooms too! He likes to line up all his books, movies, cars or whaever he happens to be playing with at the time, but that is just the way he is when he plays. He doen't get upset about it (that I know of)

If it's causing her any type of discomfort or stress, I'd talk to her doctor about it. But it sounds like she's just a little eccentric to me! Normal people are boring, so more power to her!

I think she is just exerting control over what she can....her stuff. My children like to control each OTHER's stuff...that gets ugly
~pam~
my little one definetley could be like this-- but she shares a room with her oldier grosser big sis--and she has pretty much given up on ever getting it clean. though her side is very neat and all her clothes must be folded just so.
My 6 year old is this way! She is very very particular about her bed and blankets to the point of obsession - other things not so much so.
