Say a cedar fence for a 60 by 80 ft yard. I truly don't have a clue. I am guessing $10000.Does anyone know?
Does Lowe's or one of the other big lumber places have a web site?
We had a 4ft cedar fence put in a couple summers ago...Cost me 1800. and I would say my yard is...about an 70x80 that includes 3 gates...
That's probably about right, but I'm not an expert. Our backyard is only about 50x50 and our fence was around $5k (one gate). I don't know what the material is though, I just know it's wood.
About $1500 depending on what you're looking for.
Lumber prices have recently skyrocketted. Besides all the rebuilding needed from natural disasters like the California wildfires, it turns out that our wood is one of the few things we have that China wants to import! I know about a month ago I bought some extra cedar fence boards at Home Depot. They were $2.79 each, up from $2 each.I think $10,000 is too high, but it might not be that much too high. I'm having a hard time visualizing just how big 60 x 60 is in relation to my own back yard. We are going to have to replace one side fence which is 8 sections. We are looking at doing cinder blocks (the neighbor knows some people), but if winds up having to be done in wood it will probably be $2000. This does not include any little side connecting fences or gates, which neither of us need.I would not recommend doing pine to save money. The currently broken fence is a replacement for a pine fence which was in place when I bought the house. The pine boards had just totally warped and curled. Many were curled so badly they could not be nailed at both ends to the fence.I would really like to get those pvc plastic fences that last forever, but every picture of them I have seen they do not put them touching the ground. That would not work for me. My cockers would be dug under and gone in less than 5 minutes! You should also check and see what kind of deed restrictions if any you have with regards to fences. It turns out for my neighborhood the fences cannot be more than 6 feet tall and a rot board at the bottom is required (if wood).
We just installed a maintence free fence that measures 53x76. We put in 1 gate. Our cost was $3100. We purchased materials from Home Depot. That will give you an idea compared to a wood fence.

It also really depends on if you are installing it yourself or if you are having someone else install it (ex. contractor).

I think it might depend on where you live.We installed one of those lovely white vinyl fences...and don't think I would trade it for the world. Unfortunately, I don't know what the dimension of our backyard was or what the cost of it was, without having to go and look up the numbers!
Many good points!I was looking at cost for a contractor (labour and parts). That is why my guess is $10000. My dh could do it himself, he has the know-how, problem is time.
Egle, I would love a white fence! Do you have to wash it (spray it down) frequently to keep it looking good?
